Six people have been injured in an incident at a FedEx facility in Kennesaw, Georgia, a spokesman for the hospital that took the injured said Tuesday morning.

CNN affiliates in Atlanta reported that there was a shooting at the FedEx facility, about a 25-mile drive northwest of downtown Atlanta.

FedEx is "aware of the situation," company spokesman Scott Fielder said when asked about reports of a shooting.

"The primary concern is the safety and well-being of our team members, first responders and others affected," Fielder said. "FedEx is cooperating with authorities."

Georgia's new gun law surely is improving safety, yes?

NB is a couple hours south of where that happened, I believe.

FedEx facility is a gun-free zone by their policy, so how is Georgia's gun law on gun possession in before by default gun-free zones would even matter here?

Not fair, it is against the rules to use logic or references to current laws in an anti-gun thread!

I guess shootings only happen in places that are gun free:

A former Navy SEAL known for claiming a record number of sniper killings in Iraq was one of two men shot dead at a Texas gun range, allegedly at the hands of a fellow military veteran, officials say.

So, if there are guns around, this means everyone should be safe, is this right?

Yes, because these nutjobs only shoot people without guns. If we all had guns nobody would get shot, because the nutjobs would, as though by miracle, start to think and act reasonably. Duh!

Glad you cleared that up for me.

Kennesaw is up above the Big A. A little better than 2 hours about.

I can imagine someone going Postal at Fedex. They are a crappy crappy company to work for. They trample all over the law and have no regard for humans what so ever

That is where gun control and situational awareness both come into play, apparently he did not have both working together. I personally think his murderer was out to make a name for his self anyway he could. He just picked a seal who let his guard down, a bus full of children would have served his purpose just as well.

You are correct and I should not arm you with this tidbit but..

Kennesaw is the town that is often cited by us gun nutters, because they passed an ordinance requiring everyone to own a gun.

I will also gleefully point out FEDEX facilities have fairly decent security and are gun free zones, so no one is allowed to have a gun there

and they have Metal detectors at the employee entrances

Glad to hear you're ok...

The pun had not gone unnoticed... I however believe that you need a special kind of person to concoct a plan involving shooting someone as a means to make something right... I special kind of person in a short bus kind of way... And although I support the 2nd amendment, I would be willing to bet the ranch and the cows, and assert that sort of person is not whom the Founding Fathers had in mind when they drew it.

It's not like Jordan Davis was shot and killed in a gun free zone. Nor did Robert Taylor and James Pullum shoot and kill each other in a gun free zone. Trevor Dooley didn't gun down his victim in a gun free zone either. Would appear to me that more people get shot and killed outside of gun free zones than in gun free zones.

My point is that having a gun doesn't mean you're safe. There's things like what you mentioned that come into play and you can't account for all of that. You may get lucky and get the first shot off if you see it coming, but if you're shot from behind, all the guns in the world won't save you.

I did Postal in Germany for 3 years. I can see it going bad.
