Flight to the US

My fiance is immigrating from the UK to the US and he's not sure if he should buy a one-way airplane ticket, or if he should buy a round-trip ticket, even though he won't be allowed to leave the US while his AOS is pending. Does anyone know which option is better?

Thanks,

DG

Unless your buying a ticket for a couple of days away, the cheapest option is to buy a return ticket... and simply not use the return portion... I (originally) paid about £400 for a rtn and was quoted £700 for a single!!!!

The border guard did not even ask about the ticket I came over with...

I agree it is definately cheaper to buy a return ticket and just not use it. You can call the airline after he arrives and tell them that he will not be on the flight going back

Ditto. Seems silly, but for some reason a return flight is usually cheaper.

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

Check prices. You can buy a round trip ticket and get a return date 331 day from the date that you buy it. If you can not return within 331 days, but you can within a year of purchase date, you can usually change the date with a $100 change fee. This would give you an option to use the return ticket.

Patience is required for this process.
