Hello VJ friends, I have a very important question and I am hoping that someone here can help me. So, I am currently in the process of bringing my husband and step-daughter from the Dominican Republic. My husband cousin is going to be the joint sponsor and until now, is the only person

that I can count on for any help. My husband asked his cousin to buy my airplane ticket because he is going to pay him by putting the money in pesos in a personal account that his cousin has in the Dominican Republic. I spoke to the cousin last night and he told me that he doesn't want to buy my flight because somebody told him that immigration is going to accuse him of helping a marriage fraud! Is this even possible? Is the cousin making things up so he won't have to buy the ticket. I will love to know because if this cousin is making things up, I want nothing to do with him. If anybody has have similar situations, please let me know. Thanks a million!

If there is no fraud to begin with, there isn't right?, then not sure what he would be talking about.

The minute I hear someone saying "somebody said/told" then half the time is just pure BS.

You also need to clarify, why he needs to pay for your flight if you are bringing husband and step daughter, you mean their flights? Or you mean you are going over for a visit/interview?

Why doesn't your husband just pay for the flight himself since it seems he has the money?

Perhaps this is just the first indication that he would not want to be a sponsor and is claiming this fraud thing?

Yep. The cousin will not be accused of aiding marriage fraud for buying a ticket. He either doesn't have the money, or is afraid he won't be paid back.

Thank you all. The issue here is that my husband's cousin is buying my airplane ticket because currently, I am only working part-time and my husband doesn't want me to spend the little money that I get. He made a deal with his cousin that he will pay him every cent he spends. He will do this by putting pesos in his cousin bank account in the Dominican Republic. There is no fraud, I love my husband and we have a long history together. last night, his cousin told me that he was afraid of helping pay for things because "an expert" on immigration was telling him that immigration can accuse him of funding "Marriage Fraud". I think that it is all bullshit from the cousin that way he won't help my husband. Since I don't know much about this, I can't accuse him of making things up. My husband treats his cousin like if he was his brother and I don't want to be the cause of any family dispute. I just want to be able to call him on it.

No he wont get acussed hes making things up ...anyways the marriage is not fraud so why would he say that?

He is saying that because his "immigration expert" friend told him that years ago, he helped his sister in law bring his brother and when they went for the interview, the CO confronted them. According to him, the CO said that this guy "immigration expert" was paying his sister in law to marry the brother. All I am saying is wow... It doesn't make any sense. Anyways, I will just stay out of it and let my husband deal with it. It is not worth the stress. Thank you all.

Paying for a plane ticket is very different than putting money into someone's bank account.

If your husband's cousin put a large amount of money into your bank account, especially if it is not a joint account with your husband and there seems to be no reason for it (no buying a house etc) then yes that could be viewed with suspicion.
