I am a US citizen, I am applying for a k-1 visa.

I am divorced and I want to make sure I include the proper document(s) to prove a legal and final divorce.

Is form FL-180 the proper document? It is a 2 page document with of Dissolution. It is stamped and signed by the San Francisco Cnty, superior court and has the Date marital status ends.

Thank you all so much.

A dissolution is basically a divorce, so yes.

To be safe I submitted complete certified copies of my 2 divorces. This stops all questions. My Approval came back quick. I reccommend to include certified copies.

My question is, is the form FL-180 the only document I need. I do not mind certifying, but I want to make sure I have the proper document(s).

I could have used a similar Doc for the state of WA. I choose to include the full certified Divorce decree for my 2 divorces. In my mind this stops all questions on state specific forms. The adjudicator can see the full divorce and the judges signiture with the Clerk certification. In my mind this stops any questions and a possible RFE. Just my opinion.

I apologize, I am still confused. What is a full divorce decree? The form FL-80 has a stamp from the superior court. Signature from the clerk and signature of judicial officer. It is a 2 page document. Is this the correct document?

At the top of the page it is marked as FL-180

At the bottom of the page it reads JUDGEMENT (Family Law)

In the state of WA the final divorce decree is like 20 pages long is show all the provisions, Court orders and such. It is the complete document of the divorce. I chose to include them so that there would be no questions and possibilities of an RFE if the person reviewing your files do not reconize a state specific form.

The decision is yours and mybe some from Ca can answer your question better.

In CA, FL-180 IS the divorce decree. All other provisions, such as child custody, child support, child visitation, spousal support, division of assets, etc. would be included as separate form(s) attached to the FL-180.

FL-190 is Notice of Entry of Judgement. It may be wise to include the FL-190 along with the FL-180, as it shows that the judgement was entered into the civil record.

Other than that, you're good to go with proof of divorce.

Great! Thank you for the information. I have my FL-180 (2 pages)

and My Fl-190 (1page). I will include these in my packet.

The other forms I have are the

FL-100 = Petition for Dissolution of marriage

FL-110 = Summons to spouse

FL-115 = Proof of summons

FL-141 = Declaration Regarding Service of Declaration of Disclosure

FL-165 = Request to Enter default

FL-170 = Declaration for Uncontested Dissolution

I can include all of these, but I did not want to clutter the packet with unnecessary documents.

The only two that mention the divorce is final are tha FL-180 and FL-190.

Thanks for your help, all ways appreciated.

Too much is better than not enough. I sent my entire decree (18 pages) even though the first two sound very similar to your document. I have not received an RFE as of yet.

I know I should not have said that but at least an RFE, should I receive one, will at least show some progress :)

I would disagree that too much is better than not enough.

The appropriate information to address the issue is the correct thing to do.

FL-180 and FL-190 adequately demonstrate a legally recognized divorce.

The remainder of the forms you listed, which are procedural issues during the process of obtaining a divorce, are completely irrelevant in addressing this point.

I agree with your approach in avoiding unnecessary clutter in your packet.

Yes FL180 is the correct divorce document you can send.. My husband got a certified copy of his divorce here in CA and he was given the same form. I hope this answers your question and good luck!

Well, of course, you didn't include a complete document, which is your responsibility to provide not theirs to track down. Sounds more like you were trying to screw with them.

In CA, the FL-180 is the complete decree - just be sure to include both pages.
