So after having my interview today I have been approved YAY!!!! So happy but I have a question I hope you can all answer as I forgot to ask at the embassey which was foolish :(

My sisters wedding is the 12th July the visa interview informed me my 90days to get married runs out on the 9th of July!!! I said I wish to be here for her wedding and my fiancée plans to come over for it as she is a bridesmaid. Now she said I can pay to do the medical again which would extend the time to get married by 6 moths so I can leave July 14th but would be £240 to do medical again.

What I forgot to ask and what I want to ask you is if I go early June to the US get married can I come back July 1 then back again July 14th or are you not allowed to travel once over there and in process of waiting for green card etc.

Don't know if to have medical again or fly to Us et prises started come back please help would be so grateful thank you :)

Yes, you're not allowed to leave US unless you have an AP or green card. Some people request for expedite APs but only for family emergencies. Sadly, wedding is not one of those.

You have to ask your embassy as well if they will really re-issue visa after doing a 2nd medical.

Your K-1 is a one-time use visa. You cannot go to the US and marry and come back and forth.

Your K-1 should be good for 6 months, unless you had your medical a long time ago (it generally expires 6 months from the medical). When was your medical?

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

I learned that after getting married, file the AOS (I-485 Adjustment of Status, I-765 (employment authorization), I-131 Advance Parole (if you need to travel) Check the AOS filing guide. You should be able to travel however you need to file that I-131 with those other forms. Hope this helps

Congratulations on the approval!!

Your visa will only be valid for a maximum of 6 months from the interview approval date. Sometimes this can be shorter due to the expiry of your medical check. You MUST have a valid medical when enter the US.

It seems your medical is only valid for 3 months if you were told to enter by the 9th of July. The visa in your passport will give you the exact expiry date. (Follow this over anything else)

This date CANNOT be extended. If you are not in the US by the time your visa expires then you must start again and re-apply.

Once you are in the US you will not be able to leave until you have adjusted your status and become a permanent resident and have a green card. The K1 visa only allows 1 entry. If you leave the US before you adjust your status to a Green Card resident then your case will be abandoned and you will not be allowed to return.

Some people talk of advanced parole to get back faster but this takes a long time and is only for extremely serious cases. A wedding would not qualify as an emergency reason.

Hope that helps

The embassy can extend the visa date. You would have to pay some fees again, get a mew medical, but that is what the person was telling you to do.

Yes, visa validity is 6 months from medical.

If your embassy agreed to re-issue a visa after doing a 2nd medical, best to ask them how it works. I am sure not a lot of them happen and reported here.
