I had an appointment with my local office yesterday and it was very upsetting. I already purchased a plane ticket for my trip on December.. I just needed a passport to be able to travel (I won't be able to renew my Philippine passport anymore because I applied for US citizenship.) Despite of telling them my situation, they just brushed me off and told me they don't know when my ceremony would be and that I'm just gonna have to wait.

So I went to the congressman's office in my district yesterday and told them my situation. Still hoping that everything will work out.

Just so you know, you can request your own oath ceremony.

You Need Your Citizenship Before the Oath Date
USCIS will expedite your ceremony if there are serious or humanitarian
reasons. Some reasons for an expedited oath are serious illness of the
applicant or a member of the applicant’s family, advanced age, disability,
or emergency travel outside the United States. If you need an expedited
oath, submit a request in writing to the court or the District Director of
your local USCIS office.

I had my interview today, here's how it went..

The interview letter said it was scheduled for 9:55AM and I wasn't to be more than 30 minutes early. I arrived at the building at 9:20AM and waited in line until 10:15AM just to enter the building. (Los Angeles)

I was then told to deposit my slip into a drop box and wait in a room across the hall with a large number of other people. The officers were coming to the door and calling people's names when their turn came.

After waiting for a good 45 minutes, they called my name. My husband wasn't allowed in with me.

Inside the interview room, she had me swear an oath that I'm telling the truth and went over every single question on the application form. She asked if I had any proof or evidence of the basis of my application (by marriage to a US citizen), so I showed her my husband's birth certificate and our marriage license. Next she asked the interview questions

Noxiusa, I've seen a few posts on other forums saying if one is applying under the 3-year rule, the USC spouse should come along. I see your husband went with you but wasn't allowed in. Was he acknowledged at all? Do you think it made a difference that he was there with you? I have my interview in December in the LA office and I wasn't planning on going with my husband. I didn't think there was a point to him missing a day at work just to sit in the waiting room....

Noxiusa, I've seen a few posts on other forums saying if one is applying under the 3-year rule, the USC spouse should come along. I see your husband went with you but wasn't allowed in. Was he acknowledged at all? Do you think it made a difference that he was there with you? I have my interview in December in the LA office and I wasn't planning on going with my husband. I didn't think there was a point to him missing a day at work just to sit in the waiting room....

He was there and was even walking up to the door with me when I was called. The security officer asked the interviewing officer if she wants us both. I told her it's my husband and she said, "no, he can't come, you're on your own".

I'm sure it will be fine. The whole thing is over so quick and feels more like a confirmation process than the drilling interview that some people get when they apply for the green card. There was nowhere near the stress level of that first interview for this one.

Tired of Houston office. Still in-line for interview Schedule since June 20th.

From their website, they are just processing applications made before March 3rd.

How can N-400 application takes 9 -12months to process. Fed up.............

I finally saw in april filers some one get interview notice. so I guess we are close. I called the office and they said Houston is backed up.so hoping we get mail for interview in this month and interview next month.

Oath Done! Passport done!!(as long as you have proof of travel they process it same day for you at the NY Passport office!)

Got a 52 page booklet. Didn't get a passport card though.
