No famous people, but a lot of civil war types on both sides from my maternal grandmothers side. Beyond that? Typical euro-mutt with some native american(Cherokee apparently) thrown in for color...Irish, English, Dutch, German, Italian..I could go on but you get the idea.

After talking some to my mom about the past family history made me wonder if anyone here is related to someone that was famous or has a interesting history. I remember my gmother talking about her family being related to Cole Younger an outlaw from the past  and he in turn was also related to Jessie James. She said once when she was very young she can remember seeing them, but she has been gone herself for many years so who knows, maybe so.

One of my relatives tried to blow-up an English Archbishop... supposedly.

Nothing to brag about.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

My family was a part of Bonnie Prince Charlie Stuart's court back in the olden days (1746) but after he got his butt kicked by the king of England the family moved to Pennsylvania and became horse thieves! The horse thieve thing might be incorrect

Yup, my grandmother immigrated here from Sapporo in the fifties.

My apologies, I don't usually have quoting issues...

All of my family were dirt-poor farm workers from Germany and Norway. I think they arrived in the US with the clothes on their backs and nothing much else.

However, one of my great-great-grandfathers and his brother built the infamous Komperud cabin (now a school house I'm told) in Highland, Wisconsin if anyone has any idea where the heck THAT is!

Hey Charles, was he not a crew member on the Mayflower that could tie a mean square knot? ;)

Hey! I'm a direct descendant of John Howland; that's the dude that FELL OFF the Mayflower!

My Dad is a geneological researcher, so I've got some branches of my family traced back to 490AD. I'm a descendant of Charlemagne (but who in western europe isn't? that guy had more children than anyone I've ever heard of)

There's a section in a book my Dad put together that shows my relation to famous people in history. I'm related to Laura Ingalls Wilder, of Little House on the Pairie fame.

If you've read Roots, you've read about another ancestor of mine. Alex Haley actually used my father to do some of the research work for him when writing the book, and in the process of doing this research, my father found out that he's a descendant of one of the slave owners in the book. Not something to be proud of, surely... but it was like something coming full circle.

My family's history is long, beautiful and I love it... but it'd probably bore all of you. But I just remembered something kinda fun! My cousin, Waleska Minnelli, is great-grandniece of Vincente Minnelli, ex-husband of Judy Garland and father of Liza Minnelli. :P
