Hi,

My wife is currently working on our I-864 and are having problems determining whether we need a co-sponsor for our application.

She was a dependent of her parents three years ago and only had her own income this past two years - in 2013 her federal return shows she had ~ $18,500 in wages. However, her current position, which she began in August, pays $35,000 annual salary and we will include her paystubs of the past 6 months together with a copy of the job contract highlighting her income.

Will this be enough for her to support me as a sole sponsor or do we need to look into co-sponsors?

Thank you

It really depends on your embassy some embassies that are more easier to get through just care about current. Some and there are a few want to see last year and current meet the guideline. And its CO specific. You may be okay since her current is way over and its just you two I gather.

This is correct, however, NVC won't accept an affidavit from a joint sponsor when the primary sponsor clearly qualifies on their own. I would proceed as if all is well until you see a problem.

This is one reason it's critical to complete your profile including the country from which the visa applicant will apply for a visa.
