Hello,

So here is a bit of my history... I came to the US as a child with my parents and sibling. We all entered with a tourist visa and overstayed. I'm an adult now and found the love of my life here and married in 2009 and have two children. I adjusted my status and now I'm a US citizen and petitioned my parents. My dad's case is still pending by my mom's is approved and she got get green card and also a ssn.

We've been in this country for over 20 years so we've all had jobs and paid our taxes. The dilemma is now for my parents... my mom specifically since she has her GC already. How does she go about telling her employer that she now has legit documents? I remember when I adjusted my status in 2010 I told my employer and they did a rehire for me. Please help!

How has she been paying taxes for so long if she only just got a SSN? Did they accept an ITIN for that length of time?

Regardless all she should need to do is complete a new I-9 with her employer and possibly a W4 to make sure she is being taxed correctly.
