I received the I-797 approval notice on 3/1/14 but it really doesn't tell me what the next step is. Can anyone help me out? Will I be receiving further information, or will it just go to my finace, about how long before he receives it? What can we be doing in the meantime to keep things on track? I noticed he can't do his health screening until he gets a letter? I am really confused right now and with the approval only being good for 4 mos. I don't want us to lose any time and get behind. I also didn't realize he has to have a police report and so I sent his original birth certificate in with the application so now it appears we need to get another original copy ? I am so sorry for all my questions? Just nervous and anxious as it seems we are so close but yet so much to still do. Any help or advise from anyone who is going through this or has gone through and point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Also, can we go ahead and complete his visa application (DS-160) right now or do we have to wait?

Thank you!

1) it's best you fill out your timeline. It helps others see where you are in your process and we can give you better information.

2) I-797 is your NOA2, so now you have to wait for USCIS to send your case to NVC.

3) You can check your case status at https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard.do

put in you receipt # to see when CSC sends your case to NVC. I've read a few forums that state that CSC do take forever to send to NVC

Just nervous and anxious as it seems we are so close but yet so much to still do. Any help or advise from anyone who is going through this or has gone through and point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Also, can we go ahead and complete his visa application (DS-160) right now or do we have to wait?

Thank you!

Your fiance wont be contacted until your case gets to the embassy in his country (every country/embassy is different so you have to fill out your profile so we know where your dealing with.)

Following this guide helps keep you on track http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

he needs packet 3 (paperwork that the embassy sends to him to get his medical exam and more)

dont stress the expiration on NOA2 because you can always get an extension. Most important is that NVC gets it.

Dont worry you'll have plenty of time.

He will need another original birth certificate and a copy.

you or him can complete the ds-160 after your case goes to NVC because they give you a NVC reciept number that you will use instead of what you have now.

I attached a cover letter of what you and your fiance will have to send to the embassy. You can do in the meantime while your waiting for NVC to get your case.

Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for such quick responses. I did go in and fill in my timeline - hopefully correctly. Ok. I swear I was calm up until receiving the approval notice.I just don't want to mess things up. I have checked the link and it states: Post Decision Activity

On February 24, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

So will they make any updates now to this site for our case? How will I know when the NVC receives it or will I? I am so sorry for all the questions. I really thought we were in the home stretch but I am beginning to wonder now.

Also, I made a copy of the original application packet that I sent in to apply that includes the I-134 Affidavit of support along with all my tax returns, letters of intent, birth certs, etc. and brought all 5 lbs of it to him for his copy. Does he need to send this ahead of time or bring it with him to interview?

It's ok I was the same way lol. Asking questions is good because thats how you learn.

So at this point your done with that site.

Now you just have to keep calling NVC (603) 334-0700 with your USCIS receipt to get any new updates.

As for the 5lbs of info you gave him, depending on the country he'll send all that before his interview but its always good to have more copies for the interview in case they claim they dont have something.

Ok, I'm excited I received the text message and email today that USCIS have received the application packet. I hope the timeline prediction is correct. It says I should receive NOA2 between April 17th and May 7th. What should I be doing now? Thanks guys.

In JA you still complete the DS-230 part one for K-1 to schedule interview. Your fiance will have to sign it, you scan it, and then e-mail it to the embassy. Don't worry about DS 160

Are you serious Pinkrlion, don't worry about DS160, OMG that's what I'm working on now...we already did the DS-230, it's just sitting in my folder, should I go ahead and scan it to them, what email address do I use and what do I include in the email with the DS-230?
