Hello everyone,

My fiancée and I met a couple years ago and got engaged last year. We are applying for a k-1 visa and we sent our I-129F on March 3, 2014. We know that we have to get legally married in the US but we also want to get married by the church in my home country (Guatemala). We are planning the religious wedding for the end of November of this year. We know that after getting our k-1 approved i need to travel to the US and get married and apply for AOS and AP. Considering the date we sent form I-129F and the time left for the religious wedding, what are the chances of getting everything done on time?

How long does it take to get the Advance Parole approved?

Thank you all in advance!

You're looking at about five months processing for the I-129f, unless you're lucky. Then a month or two for the NVC, then another two-ish months to get to the interview. THEN you have to account for administrative processing that may occur. There's no time limit for that. That's a very conservative estimate.

After you arrive stateside you have 90 days to marry, then AP takes another 90-120 days.

I'm not sure your timeline will work.

I will say it has been taking about three months for most petitions to be approved lately. And my fiancé was through the interview and stateside just at six months. We were lucky.

Not enough time... Figure 6 -8 months to get the k1 and enter... If you married right away after 2 weeks and file AOS as soon as possible (time for marriage registered etc...) that puts you about Oct - December... you are looking at another 90 days after that for AP... So if everything goes as planned (and it rarely does) Feb - April would be the soonest...

Unlikely.

I would make plans closer to March/April of next year.

November 14th, 2013: She's here!

December 12th, 2013: Picked up marriage license.

December 14th, 2013: Wedding

Hey I'm a fellow Chapin member! My fiancé and I submitted our I-129f on October last year after getting engaged in August, we also want to have a religious wedding here in Guatemala because we both have families here and we were hoping to get married by August so that there was enough time! Considering we got our NOA2 EXTREMELY fast we felt it was best to push Back the religious wedding in Guatemala until the end of December to guarantee enough time to get either the advanced parole or the actual green card! What took us the most time was receiving any sort of information about package 3 (they only sent us the instructions after many many calls to the embassy after two weeks after we got the letter from the NVC) and then the next available interview was until March!!! I booked the interview in January so you figure how busy they were. I would strongly recommend you move your wedding date and don't even try to estimate how long things will be until you get your NOA2 then take into consideration if your case has any sorts of problems that might delay the process! If you need any help or info feel free to Private message me and I'll help with what I can! Good luck!

April 19, 2014 - Wedding Date =)
