Please excuse me in advance if this is already on a forum.

I was reading the instuctions for I-485 adjust of status (we will eventualyl have the K-1 visa "fingers crossed") and it mentioned that is is best to file the I-131 and I-745 with the I -485 to avoid paying extra fees. So, this is what we plan to do.

However, we do not have the particular travel dates yet. We know that this year we wish to go to Canada (visit my grandparents) and we want to go to France in 2015 to visa his family and introduce my mother to his family.

From your experience, is it possible to receive approval of a I-131 with multiple enteries without yet knowing the dates of travel yet?

If yes, what do we put on the appication when it requires travel dates?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but the I-131 is used for him to travel once his AoS is approved and he is on the 2 year probation?

Thanks for your help i n advance as I am confused...

The I-131 is used to apply for Advanced Parole (AP), which allows the beneficiary to travel outside the US while AOS is pending, when filing with an I485 you can leave the travel dates blank. The AP usually along with the Employment Authorization Document (EAD) is issued as a combo card within 90 days of USCIS receiving the application, once the green card is received it replaces the combo card and the interviewing officer usually takes it back if you are approved at the interview.

The AP is for re-entry to the US if you travel outside the US before your green card is received. The EAD is so you can work before receiving your green card. EAD/AP is no longer valid or needed once you receive the green card. They typically come as a combo card. http://www.uscis.gov/news/questions-and-answers/uscis-issue-employment-authorization-and-advance-parole-card-adjustment-status-applicants-questions-and-answers

For the date and length of trip on the I-131, leave them blank, then hand-write Unknown in those fields after printing out the form. No explanation/reason is needed either when filed with a pending I-485.
