N-400 Application - What Does The FBI Check Entail?

Just curious as to what exactly (if anything) is different re the background check for a naturalization application than for, say, and adjustment of status or a removal of conditions? I mean, obviously I know that the timespan from the date of the 10 year GC issuance will be gone over, but will it be the same process? Or is it a more intense procedure?

If anyone knows, I'd be interested to hear.

Ha, all I know is when you go to a sporting goods store to buy a gun, or to a bank to open an account, they can do this in seconds. With the USCIS, can take forever.
