[ADDRESS OF FILING LOCATION]

or when submitting for interview

United States Department of State

United States Consulate, [name of country where Embassy is located]

[Embassy Address]

Hello all again. So my fiancee and I are currently working on the letters of intent for a K-1 Visa and are pretty confused. We're using an example downloaded from this site and needed some assistance. So where it reads above "or when submitting for an interview," when i check the K-1 Visa guide here I don't see anything regarding this letter being necessary for the interview? Just for the I129F, Which has me wondering when and why we would use this for the interview? I tried looking all this up but couldn't find a good answer. I'm the USC and shes coming from the Philippines. We figure for the first package we both use the TEXAS lockbox address for address of filing location.

Thank you all again.

The Guides are a compilation of both actual USCIS / Embassy requirements and good extra effort to insure success.

It is advised to follow the guides, even if your Embassy doesn't specifically require it or may not ask for the document at the interview.

You'll have to send the sign 134 form and documents to your fiance for the interview so I see no harm in also sending a new signed Letter of Intern.

If your consulate needs new updated letters, then you provide them. I think h. of the Manila requirements might constitute a new letter of intent, to make it clear you plan to marry within 90 days of their entry to the US with the K-1 visa. Others that have gone through Manila would have the most accurate answers for you. http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/325288/packets/K1%20and%20K2%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_10%20October%202013_.pdf

The embassy in Manila does not specifically ask for Letters of Intent to marry, it words things loosely.

h. EVIDENCE OF A GENUINE ENGAGEMENT. You must be prepared to prove to the consular officer
that you have a genuine relationship with your petitioner and a clear intention to marry within 90 days of
admission into the U.S. In the past, successful applicants have submitted photographs, letters, e-mails,
phone records, bank records, and remittance records as evidence supporting their relationships and intent to
marry.

I agree with Hank. It is not a specific requirement by the US embassy in Manila, but it doesn't hurt to use it as one of the "proof of genuine engagement." During my K-1 visa interview, I was not asked by the American consul for any proof of engagement. I even asked if he wants to see more of our recent pictures together and other proofs of constant communication. He just said, he's content with our I-129 and RFE package. Bottomline is, as long as the consul is happy, he won't ask for this. But as mentioned by Baron, it won't hurt to send one to your fiancee when you're about to send your signed I-134 and bring this to the interview. Don't forget to change the address to US embassy in Manila. Good luck! smile.png

The letters of intent is your evidence of engagement. Although your I-129f packet will have your original letters of intent, the embassy may request to see affirmation you still intend to marry...thus the updated letters of intent.

Once again I thank you all for taking the time to answer our questions. Believe me when i say were appreciative and grateful.

I'll use the Texas lockbox address for the I129F and for the interview the embassy address in case they even ask.
