hello, I am a 26 year old UK citizen.

I am currently looking at moving out to the US (Orlando, FL). I have started reading a variety of sources of information regarding the moving process, I am familiar now with the DS-160 form which is needed to be filled out to start the visa process with the Embassy in London. However, I am finding it hard to identify which visa I would need to apply for my line of work. Here in the Uk I work in the private security sector, the majority of my work is undertaken at the festivals, outdoor events, venues and also as a bodyguard. This is the sector I would preferable like to remain once in the US

Any information would greatly appreciated on my above situation

Thank you

Well, in your research you missed key little detail which is you need to find employer to get you a work visa, you don't just apply for it (did you ever asked yourself a question why billions of people out there don't just move over to US) ?

Also another important details is most of work visas are for specialty occupations, therefore chance for getting one in private security sector are very slim. US - like other countries - protects its job market, employers need to prove they can't find anybody locally before they're allowed to bring somebody over.

Employer must apply for a visa for you... They are very limited and for speciality occupations ( private security is not one of these) you might re-think your plans...

You cannot apply for a work visa by yourself.

Only a US employer can apply for a work visa on behalf of a foreign worker.

The US employer has to get a Dept. of Labor certification that no US person could be found to do the job and that is why the US employer needs a work visa for a foreign employee.

The US like every other country wants to protect its domestic workers. Generally, it's not a good idea to let people in who will take jobs away from your own citizens.

Unfortunately for you, there are plenty of people in the US you can do private security. The chances of a US employer hiring you to be private security in the US is next to zero. Sorry.
