What I have seen of Student visas is questions and answers about the degree sought after and such. So they just need to prepare and know what they are going to school for.

Hi,

His college should tell him what is required so he has the correct documents. Colleges have an international student dept and work with students to make sure they have the correct documents before coming over to study.

The key questions he needs to be aware of follows:

1. Clear source of funds. The sponsor must be a direct relative preferably with the same last name unless he has assistantship or scholarship covering the whole tuition and living expenses by the school.

2. He must be able to explain to the consular why he choose the particular school. A question like "Why did you choose this school?" Answer should be that I applied to so many other schools even outside USA and these are my reasons for choosing the school...!

3. He must have an original copy or notarized copy of his transcript. Originals of his certificates.

4. Original birth certificate.

5. Proof of payment of SEVIS fee.

6. The I-20 and admission letter issued to him by the school.

Very important. The consulate just needed a very direct and concise answers to his/her questions. Your nephew should avoid attempting to manufacture answer to questions he is not asked. This is one of the many reasons F1 visa are denied.

All the best to you nephew.
