need help with declaration on how we met

Hi,

I am in the middle of getting our K-1 visa packet together and somehow, is having a hard time writing the declaration on how we met. I met my gf back in 2003 at one of the chatrooms on yahoo. We really clicked right away and started talking almost everyday since then. But as the years went by, it got harder for me to go online as I got really busy with life. We still kept in touch but only once in a while, through e-mail. Just started talking to her again in 2011.

I know writing the declaration on how we met, I should have documents to support it. But the thing is, back in the days, there was no way for me to keep our convos in ym messenger and that we didn't know we would end up being together and that we'd be needing copies of those convos. I already met her in person last June of this year. I'm having a hard time starting the declaration of how we met. I don't want to make a mistake and delay the process of her coming here in the U.S.

Any advice?

No they mean tell them about when you met in person. Two sentences is all they want....when and where you met last June.

They only want to know about "meeting in person in the last 2 years". Just provide them with the answer, along with some supporting documents (passport stamps, tickets, itineraries, pictures)

Just something short like: we met on (date) at (place).

It doesnt need to be anything fancy, just enough to fit in the space they provide you.

Sure you can. It can still be a short an simple statement even with that info. Something like, "We first met online XX/XX/XX, kept in touch through email and then began a serious relationship in 2011. We visited together on XX/XX/XX when I flew to see her in [city, country]."

It also depends on what country the foreign fiance(e) is from and where they will interview later. For some consulates you may wish to write out a longer, more detailed statement about your relationship and how and where you met. Some use a relationship timeline. You can do a search about it.
