So our package is stuck at the NVC stage. It has been in AP since 12/31/2013 and I have called and emailed repeatedly and have gotten the same response. We cannot give you any time frame. Has anyone else had this issue and is there a way to help the situation?

I already have the MNL case number. Got it on 12/31/2013. The file just has never been shipped to Manila

It's not stuck. Average right now is 28 days. That means some stay longer some shorter. You're doing the right thing keep calling till you get a number, but don;t get too excited this is normal.

If you have a number, the file has been processed and has been or will be shipped. Have you contacted the Consulate?

If you have the file number forget about the NVC. Send an email to the Consulate with your case number in the subject line. In the body inquire about status of your file.

I have not called the embassy. I have called the NVC every day and still am told the case is under AP and there is no timeframe for it to be sent to the embassy. I was lucky to get an early appointment date for the interview but I will have to cancel.

You're K-1 Right? There really isn't anything to be done at the NVC. It generally just passes through. Personally I would contact the Consulate. It's free to try.

Maybe someone else will chime in with an idea why you would be hung up in AP. Have you asked about this issue in the PI portal? It could be something specific to your Consulate.

Thanks, yes we are K-1 and I also don't see why there is such a delay. I will email the us embassy and see if we can get anywhere

My case is at the same stage as yours and also in AP. It was sent from NVC to the US Embassy in Delhi on 10/31/13 and on CAEC site it is showing as AP since 12/12/13. I am waiting to try to make my interview appointment until it is out of AP but I am kind of worried. Last time my case was in AP it took around 2 months. Is it normal for a case to be in AP at this stage?

I am going to email the Embassy and try to find something out.

Let me know if you find anything out.

Yours is a CR-1 case. It's normal to spend extended time at NVC. The OP is K-1. Usually in and out within a month.

There are a couple of threads, one pinned, one old one no longer pinned about K1's at NVC. We were stuck there for nearly 8 weeks back when they first started doing this. Most do go in and out quite quickly, but now and then they take one out of the queue for extra scrutiny. We were told by the person who interviewed me it was random. The FOIA request we filed showed the same thing. It isn't specific to one country.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
