Need clarification on N600 vs. U.S. Passport

Hello,

I entered the United States from Poland in 1993. My mother obtained her U.S. Citizenship in January 2003, 2 months before my 18 birthday. I would now like proof of my citizenship, but have read that the U.S. Passport route is easier/cheaper than the N600 route. I'm not in a rush. I have no actual travel plans, but I do want to save money and time.

However, this is confusing me:

Foreign Birth Documents + Parent(s) Citizenship Evidence

If you claim citizenship through birth abroad to U.S. citizen parent(s), but cannot submit a Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth, you must submit all of the following:

• Your foreign birth certificate (translated to English),
• Evidence of citizenship of your U.S. citizen parent,
• Your parents' marriage certificate, and
• A statement of your U.S. citizen parent detailing all periods and places of residence or physical presence in the United States and abroad before your birth

The reason I am confused is that my mother was not a citizen at the time of my birth, but this scenerio is "most closely related to me" [their words].

If I'm doing it wrong please let me know.

what is your legal status, do you have a GC, are you a LPR?

the quote is from someone born to a USC, born abroad to a USC, that's a Consular Report from Birth abroad, CRBA, nothing to do with you since you weren't born to a USC

now to derive citizenship from your mom, did you enter as a legal permanent resident? do you have a Green Card

I was 8 years old when the Green Card was issued. It is still valid (unexpired, renwed twice). My mother and I have been in the United States since. My mother became a naturalized citizen in February 2003. I was born in April 1985.

Then you became a citizen at the same instant your mother naturalised, under the provisions of the Child Citizenship Act, provided you were in her legal and physical custody.

Agree - just follow the normal US passport route
