Nurseling..yeah that's true. Some people get interviews and others do not. I don't know on what basis they do the selection though. I will try to do a walk-in and see if they allow me to. Hopefully they do lol. As a matter of fact I will be in the vicinity tomorrow morning so I might just go through and see if I will be successful. I will keep everyone updated on what happens. Wish me luck lol.

I'm happy to see progress with everyone's case. Looks like the online system is not reliable, it's never updated and keeps saying the same thing. At this point I will just rely on the paper Notifications.

Wish you the best for the walk-in hope they let you do it.i shouldn't think it would be a problem though. Let us know I it goes.

Hey AlphaMale.. You're welcome - it is so fantastic that you have the notice, I am really happy for you :) Hopefully where you are today, it is a nice day for a stroll...lol

At first I said a swear word on the RFE, but it does mean they are working on things, which is rather splendid :) . I should get the notice tomorrow and I will be able to get together everything before my biometrics is done. I did a quick search just now on the tax stuff, I sent the W2 and 1040 into them but now I see they might be requesting the transcripts? If it is anything else, I can resend it easily enough. All this drama is like being involved in a day time soap opera....lol lol

Hi cjc

About the tax stuff I sent exactly. What you sent. 1040EZ and W2 and some pay stubs. I guess we shall seeing a rfe so time down the line. Please let us know what it is for sure once you gt the hard copy . On the upside the transcripts I ordered from IRS turned up in the mail yesterday. anyone ever sent anything before getting a rfe? Would it be worth me sending them now to avoid rfe and more delays?

thank you aussie_jason that makes a lot of sense. So I send everything that I had earlier submitted with the original i864 right?

Our AOS/EAD file was accepted on the 20th of January 2014. We received my wifes biometrics appointment letter yesterday dated for the 14th of February. The problem with that is that is also the date she is scheduled to go in for C-section. instead of rescheduling and risking delaying the whole process we decided to try an early walk in today. The service center is a 2 hour drive one way so we were praying for a positive outcome. The people at the Lubbock Texas Service Center were very friendly and accomodating. the entire process took a maximum of 15 minutes to capture Biometrics for my wife and step son. Good Luck to everyone and now to wait for the next step of our journey.

OMG the RFE!!

so i just recived the RFE in the mail, dated jan 24th..and it seems that they are requesting :

"Submit a complete Federal Income TAx Return submitted to the Internal Revenue Services IRS from the petitioner/sponsor on Form I-864, Affidavit of support, for the most recent tax year"

AND ALSO

"The Joint sponsor on form I-864 , Affidavit of Support, must submit a complete Federal Income Tax return submitted to the IRS for the most recent tax year."

HELP!!

So my petitioner is a graduate student not making any money, so we just sent his 864 form with the amount of money in his savings account (and a copy of his bank statement).we didnt send any tax returns or anything like that. We also didnt send a letter explaning that he is a student not making an income, so we will OF COURSE do that now, and see what else we can get for him.

but for his father, who is our co sponsor, and who makes more than enough to qualify, we sent all the W2 and IRS tax returns etc..so im really worried as to what im supposed to send anymore.

can anyone offer advice on this?

ps. could it be that they require the co sponsor info again even tho it was adequate because they need the initial petitioner financial info , so they are just making us send the same stuff for the sponsor again so they would have it all in one place?

Hey Royo1..your post made me laugh, too funny....I have never done so much baking either....shame we aren't closer, as between the coffee and cake, we could be having 'VJ Cafe'... lol

Hi nurseling :).. According to the info Ryoyo1 posted, it should be enough. Maybe it is something else? The more I think about it I can't remember if I included hubby's citizenship info? Anyway, all will be revealed as soon as I get the notice. Absolutely I will post what it is for, one can't have enough info :)...

On your sending it in ahead of time on the off chance you get an RFE, personally I would wait and see, but that's me. I am sure others will chime in with what to do.

Hi Magic424, Congratulations firstly for the pending birth of your child, that is a really wonderful Valentine's day gift. Thanks for the update with the walk in, it is really helpful. All the best with your AOS too :)

Hi CjC

You know I had to cast my mind back to what I sent in too and I do remember adding a copy of my hubby's birth certificate as proof of citizenship. God talk about lapses in memory too many forms drives you to become seminal. Am thinking dementia is going to be knocking on my door soon too lol.

I do hope it is something minor for your rfe. The main thing is that it's on its way to you so you can quickly fix it.

As for the waiting for a acceptance notice. If my phone and email could talk the would curse me for disturbing them every 5minutes. I better give it till Monday who knows our destiny a one was probably one of the first in the haystack of AOS forms. Gives hope since we both posted ours the same time. I will wait till Monday before I go buy myself a wig to replace the hair I might start pulling out if I don't hear from them lol. We got to laugh right or we may all be crying. God what hard work it has been throughout this journey. :)

Lol I like that. Lord of the ring epic.

We shall look back one day and maybe even tell our grandchildren the k1 AOS story.

I keep busy scouting the net for possible jobs. Just finished emailing my old boss asking for a reference when the AOS finally turns up. God I am bored!!! It's not even funny any more. Day time tv seems to be my friend these days. My little boy who is two cracked me up yesterday by shouting jerry jerry jerry. Tells you how bored I am right lol

Hope you're weekend goes well too.

hi there,

got the ref in mail, and turns out we need to add another form which reflects the non-taxable income separately. this seems weird since all our income from 2012 was non-taxable (earned overseas); transcripts we sent indicated that, so I am really confused now:/

the letter only calls for the particular form (2055 if I recall correctly), and nothing else. I never sent any W2s or letter from employer, but now I am getting a bit nervous, and I might attach them to my response.

also, the claimed current income doesn't match the IRS papers (the papers from 2012 when my husband worked overseas; now we claim his current income. do you think I should attach a letter with explanation? I hate to think that my papers could be rejected again. urgh. please advise. and thanks:)

June 2013 - I-130 sent from overseas

January 2014 - applied for AOS/AP/EAD

March 2014 EAD/AP and I-130 approved

May 2014 - AOS approved

Hey everyone.

Ok so I went to the USCIS office today for my biometrics (originally scheduled for February 11..but that day wouldn't have been convenient for me because of my schedule) and guess what, they didn't even ask any questions. They just made me fill out the forms, took my ten fingerprints and a photo and within 10 minutes I was out. But I'm guessing they probably didn't care because it is a new office (has been around for around a year) and they have very few people coming in. When I got there for instance, there were just about 5 people in and that was all. Oh and I asked the lady if early biometrics helps in anything and she replied in the affirmative. She said since it enables them to do the FBI checks faster (which according to her is one of the stages where much time is spent because it takes about 2-4 weeks for them to get the results) and after that they issue the EAD. So I guess if anyone can do it early and your ASC is flexible and less busy like the Portland office, I guess you should go right in and get it done if you can.

Oh and she was really nice and was willing to answer a lot of my questions..perhaps because she was bored from not having a lot to do lol..or because she was just simply nice. So for now, I guess, I'm just waiting on my EAD. I will try to see if I can get my EAD expedited, and I will update the thread with my experience lol..hopefully that would be successful too!

You all have a wonderful day and a happy weekend :-)

Hey everyone.

Ok so I went to the USCIS office today for my biometrics (originally scheduled for February 11..but that day wouldn't have been convenient for me because of my schedule) and guess what, they didn't even ask any questions. They just made me fill out the forms, took my ten fingerprints and a photo and within 10 minutes I was out. But I'm guessing they probably didn't care because it is a new office (has been around for around a year) and they have very few people coming in. Well done Malealpha! Good news smile.png

I got my Biometrics appt letter today, also for 11th Feb. I'm just going to wait and go in on the date on the letter.

However, I can tick off a few docs I didn't send in the AOS package (proof Spouse is USC, original marriage cert) so I am expecting an RFE.

Thanks to everyone here who posts about rfe's, I've started preparing for all these docs now.

Have a nice weekend all!

Hi Nurseling..thanks. From what I have read from the other threads, you call them and tell them. You want it expedited. They ask you to select from the list of reasons why you want it selected. They then tell you they will get back in touch with you. Usually they will send you a mail within 5 -7 business days and ask you to send them reasons why you want it expedited with proof. Many claim to just send an explanation and it's fine and I have seen cases where people also attach a job offer letter which they need to work permit to accept. And within a week or two the EAD is processed. I don't know for sure if it's that easy so I will just try it and see..at least for the experience and as a guide for us all lol (someone has to always try and see, right? Lol). I know we all can't wait to receive our EADs. I will keep everyone updated on every step of my way. My former company here wants to give me a job if I get a work permit, so at least on that front I can easily get the job offer letter showing a willingness to offer employment contingent on my receiving a work permit.
