Just got married a couple of weeks ago and Im trying to piece together everything for the AOS. One of the big questions is about my 14 year old stepson. Does he need his own I-485? Any links to info on the specifics of a K2 AOS at the same time as the K1 mother would be much appreciated!

Yes, and it will cost the same as the mom's, $1070 > http://www.uscis.gov/i-485

In the guides section of VJ under the AOS guide > http://www.visajourney.com/content/k2-visa-adjustment-of-status-tips

There is also a pinned thread in this AOS forum about K-2 adjustments.

The fees will likely be the same, unless USCIS raises them, which they do periodically. Additionally, if your wife and child are out of status, be careful to avoid roving CBP checkpoints, usually found near the southern US border. If they are stopped, they may be detained for being out of status. All in all, a big hassle that is best avoided by promptly starting the AOS process after marriage.

there is no 'late fee' for filing after the I-94 expires.

However, if 2 years passes after marriage date, before filing, please add in the I-130 with the rest of the forms collection.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
