Then it would be a urine test... But a drug test IS performed... Daily users it can be detected up to 90 days after last use... Occasional... About 30 days...

Medical is different from country to country.

There was no drug test when I went to my medical in Montreal; no urine or blood were taken/given. After admission of drug use, maybe/probably they do it then. Similarly, in some countries, women get full gynecological exams and I never removed my panties.

Ok.. Throughout they were more or less standard? I still would not advise anyone to risk it...

Oh, I would certainly not want anyone to risk it - just saying it's not as uniform as I originally thought.

I also don't recall a urine test. I am pretty sure that medicals are different from country to country.

Different rules from country to country! Back in 2004 had to do bloodwork for it at my physical that took place in Halifax!! But like everything else, procedures change

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I had to do blood tests in Montreal, not sure what they were for. I gave a copy of the medical forms to Saylin... here it is from Medisys

I had my medical done last august in Montreal. They did take blood, but it was to test for STDs and other contagious diseases.

On the medical forms, they ask you if you were ever addicted to or abused any substance in the past. They don't ask if you had ever tried or occasionnally used. Though I guess it's something the doctor himself could ask you, but he never did with me.

As everyone else says, don't lie, but don't bring it up if it's not asked for.
