Mairjuana Use

I saw a post earlier about a person who has been denied their visa because they mentioned that they had used marijuana in the past. According to the posts, all tests came back negative, but he was still denied based on his admission of use. Is this something to be concerned about in Canada, specifically Montreal? I know my fiance has occasionally smoked, but it's been years since anything routine.

Any admission of past drug use is sufficient enough to get you banned from entering the United States. This is why Rob Ford will be turned away if he tries to go to Detroit for the hockey classic.

as long as he does not mention anything at his medical test then his fine.

You do not have to volunteer information, but just a friendly reminder to never lie to immigration ()and that includes the medical paperwork/ the doctor doing your medical immigration exam). Lying can get you permanently banned from the USA, and it is also against our TOS to advocate such.

No one is advocating lying. I am a US Veteran and have served my country and I pride myself with integrity. My husband ( who also posts on several forums aside from myself) is also not advocating lying also note English not being his native tongue can misconstrue his actual intent. Please lets have this cleared up.

Never lie...but use common sense.......................

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Don't volunteer any info you don't have to... Any admission of marajuana use will incur a 1 year ban regardless of how Long ago... Have a discussion with your loved one so they understand that this issue might come up at the medical...

How intense is said drug test? I know basic job interviews have drug tests that go back a month or whatever, but do they do ones that can find traces from years ago?

We're just trying to figure out our best course of action :)

For an occasional user, it will be detectable in urine about 30 days (blood less)... For a daily cannibis user, it can be detected up to 90 days... Hair follicle testing can detect drugs 90 days... After 90 days any drug use will not be detected.
