I'm new here and about to submit my initial I-129F packet. Everything is organized and I've followed the general advise here on VJ.

That said, I'm a little worried about my fiancee's passport-style photo. She's in brazil and when she got the photos made, they were done according to Brazil passport-style which is apparently 5x7cm instead of the US' 2x2inches. Other than the dimensions differing, her photo meets the requirements outlined in the I-129F instructions. In fact, the instructions do not explicitly state 2x2inches.

For the moment, I have written an explanation about the picture in hopes it will be accepted.

Does anybody have experience with non-US sized passport photos? I read somewhere on VJ that people have had REAL problems convincing foreign photo agencies/companies to make photos to US-standard dimensions (instead of the local sizing).

more to the point, has anyone submitted a 5x7cm (or other non 2x2inch) photo with their I-129F and have it rejected?

thanks!!!

Hi nothel and welcome to VJ

You may or may not receive an RFE for the beneficiary's passport style photo. USCIS do not seem to be as strict with the specifications but it depends on the adjudicator. My husband's (USC) passport style photo was not to specifications and was still accepted.

5.7 is 2.2 inches. My fiance's were 4.5 x 4.5 cm as is the standard passport photo size in Thailand and were accepted. I've never seen anyone get an RFE over the passport photos... but ya never know.

Don't worry - your pics are too close to the requirements for a problem - my fiancee got hers done in Colombia and they were slightly smaller (1.75 inches by 1.75) and wrong dimensions (the head to chin etc.) - I didn't even realize it and sent them in - no questions were asked. Good Luck
