I need help with two issues:

1. We received our case # on 11/4 from NVC. I have been calling everyday to see if the file has left on its way to Finland and it has been "no". Today the lady told me that it is going through necessary administrative process and I asked her if this was normal for everyone and her reply was yes. Is this true, and I was told the case does not stay at NVC much after the case # had been issued. Is there a typical time frame that they hold on to a file?

2. I am getting the paperwork ready for when package 3 arrives and on the I-134 they want a letter of employment, but that is my issue. I just got an email from our HR department, and they told me that it was company policy that do not do "letters of employment". I have check stubs, my bank statements showing direct deposit from my employment and I can even print out the email of them refusing the VOE. They said that the embassy can call our verification number and send a form with my signature and dated and supply a fax number and they will send something that "yes" I work there. Please any advice I can get will be greatly appreciated

I have heard that NVC is taking much longer to process cases and send them out to Embassies. Maybe that's what's holding up your situation?

As for your employment letter, usually they're only recommended when you started at that job recently and the income is not yet seen on tax returns. Is that your case? How long have you been at that job?

I started in March, 2013, but my check stubs clearly states my hourly wage, month to date earnings, year to date earnings. I am well above the poverty level even at this stage, I do not understand what the big deal is with the company I work for. I was even thinking about getting all my check stubs, statement notarized if necessary

In that case your last tax returns won't reflect your current income. Companies have their own policies, who knows why... You might want to do some research on here for the Finland Embassy - it might be that you'll be able to get through with just the pay stubs. I don't think getting them notarized is a necessity given that Finland is a low fraud country.

Well here is a twist, my fiance is in Finland going to school there, he is a Nigerian national so this might change things. The only other thing I can think of is to get a co-sponsor such as my mom but my mom is 85 years old but has $$. mad.gif

You can use your most recent tax transcript along with a letter from employer and/or recent pay stubs. The employment letter is a not a requirement that will make or break your case. You just need documentation that proves your current income meets the requirement.

You could also try and type a letter yourself and ask your manager/supervisor to sign it. She/he may be able to sign it without having the red tape of the HR department involved... I work in HR and have written these types of letters for our employees for different reasons and I don't see what the big deal would be. Just make sure it's simple and clear cut, and if you present it to your Manager for signature, you will have your latest pay stub with you so he can verify what you put down is correct. And have it on your company's letterhead.
