I just got out of college and have yet to file a tax return above the poverty line so my father filled out an I-134.
  • Do I need to fill out an I-134 as well?
  • Do I need to provide proof tax returns?
    • If so, do I need a "copy of tax return," or "transcript of tax return" from the IRS, or will it be sufficient to print off my return from turbotax (or freetaxusa.com in my case)?

Thank you!

(GOVERNMENT SHUT-DOWN) Oh no! what are we gonna do! Good thing our petition was approved in mythically fast time!

Uh oh, we still haven't heard from NVC! ...But wait!

11-15-2013- Packet 3 NOT sent because it doesn't exist anymore... DS-160 and READINESS online form completed!
11-19-2013- Medical Examination ("we had a cancellation, we can get you in on tuesday." Wow!)

We must be breaking some kind of speed record (even with the shutdown)!

you the petitioner always do an affidavit of support regardless of income. I think tax transcript would be the better one less paper you have to send but you can carry does others ones to interview.

For other consulates, yes, the petitioner would need to also fill out their own I-134. Someone that knows about how it works for London should come along and help you out. From what I understand, in London, they only need one sponsor. If your dad will co-sponsor, then he will be the one to provide an I-134 and supporting documentation. You can use a compete copy of the tax return with all forms, schedules, W-2s and/or 1099s, or an IRS tax return transcript.

I thought I read that somewhere as well. Confirmation, anyone?

I'm not gonna take any chances, so I already ordered my transcript, but if I don't need it, it's one less thing to have my parents ship to us from the states (I'm fortunate enough to spend these eager months with my fiancée in the UK).

Thank you,

Chema

London person here...

That is correct. London wants a singular sponsor so Dad will be fine.

Also, it is not all about the tax return. If you currently have a job and earn above the poverty level, then you can sponsor without a tax return on the I-134 in London. Prove the current income with an employer letter and some pay stubs and that will be acceptable.

Agree on if using a tax return as proof, it is for example

[TurboTax printout + W2 or 1099] or [transcript from IRS].

When your do the next Affidavit of Support (I-864) for the greencard, then all said in post 2 does apply to that form. It has specific and stricter requirements.
