Hi,

hopefully, we ll send our 130 file somewhere in January, but we want to be sure we have everything in order and as good as possible....so i have a few more questions for people that already applied (and got the visa) :

1. If my wife (the usc) changes her passport (because she changed her name) will that be a problem? because all the stamps are on the passport she has now.(of course we ll make copies but i dont know if uscis asks for the original)

2. money transfer papers - yes or no (for proof of relantionship)

3. the statements from family and friends (only from the us citizen side or the beneficiary s too?)

4. my birth certificate (the beneficiary) a copy or original?

and 5. if we apply in january, and there wont be any problems with out petition, how long until i have an interview (i know every case its different, but i keep reading about ppl getting their visas really slow, some way faster), so how much average time to get to interview - one year from the moment we apply?

3. Statements can be from both sides but they don't carry a lot of weight evidence-wise

4. Birth certificate of beneficiary is not required when filing I-130, it's needed at NVC stage and then it has to be original + a copy. Or a certified copy (issued by same authority that issued the original).

5. There's no way of knowing, they keep changing their process.

To answer your passport question, I changed my passport to reflect my married name. However I made copies of the original passport showing all the stamps going in and out of the country and submitted that as part of my evidence of bonafide marriage. It shouldn't affect anything. USCIS wouldn't ask for original but just a copy of the passport biographic page. Just keep the other passport on hand in case you need it during the interview for proof.
