My wife is currently filling out the I-130 petition for Alien Relative and it asks for "date authorized stay expired, or will expire, as shown on form I-94 or I-95". So I looked at my I-94 and the only date stamped is January 8th 2012 but that is the date I reentered the country after being home for Christmas.

I entered on a valid student visa and I am now on an OPT. Why is there no date on my I-94 that I must leave the country by???

Edit: It says D/S underneath which means duration of status which is my student visa which expired on May 15 2013, which is fine as I got my OPT in March, right?!

many student visas have D/S [Duration of Stay] in there, on the I-94, for the expiration date.

If yer here on a F-1 visa, are you really chasing after an immigrant visa?

I asked, cause you posed yer question in one our immigrant visa sub-forums.

If'n you've no intention to leave the USA till after you have a green card, you might want to chase down stuff in another forum, that Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, Tourist sub-forum. [ya, the I-130 is a multi-purpose form, but location and position on the planet is important, when filing it]

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I'm not certain on this, but

I THINK that OPT phase yer in, even though it's governed by the EAD card you have for remainder of time and duration, is still part of your F-1 visa validity ,

so

your I-94 date that needs to go on that I-130 is still to be 'D/S' for your expiration.

Hopefully someone else will chime in on your question.
