Hi all, I have a few family members who may be willing to sponsor my fiance's visa, because I am not currently able to. They make enough money to comfortably sponsor him. HOWEVER, they are planning on traveling abroad for further education & work in the future (likely a few years from now). My question is: if they sponsor him, would they be able to relocate outside of the US? Would they have to maintain a certain amount of cash in a US bank account or something? Or do they just have to prove US income at the time that we apply for the K-1 and Permanent Residence permit?

I am wondering if anyone else has dealt with this same thing, and/or has any insight. Thanks for your help! :)

To my understanding, the co-sponsor need to show income during the time of sponsor and they can of course travel. They are still USC when they travel right?

For I-134 is not legally binding but I-864 is legally binding so if anything happen to the beneficiary they still need to pay up even tho out of country.

That's from all the reading I have done, not sure if it applies correctly. Hope other VJ-er can help you out too.

My understanding is that they just have to prove sufficient income (over 125% of the poverty guidelines for the appropriate household size) at the time the I-134 and I-864 are submitted. If they move, they have to notify USCIS of their change in address using form I-865, or there is a possibility of a fine.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!
