And of course, the whole thing is BS to begin with, since it's extremely difficult to manufacture a binary liquid explosive in the first place.

But TSA has to justify its existence so.....

3-1-1

3 ounces max

1 quart bag

only 1 bag allowed

that's for carry-on

Check what you like....

Unless it's contact solution , then they allow it to be 4 oz.

More than just contact solution...

To ensure the health and welfare of certain air travelers there are no limits on the amounts of the following liquids, gels and aerosols you may carry through a security checkpoint:

* Items used to augment the body for medical or cosmetic reasons such as mastectomy products, prosthetic breasts, bras or shells containing gels, saline solution, or other liquids; and,

* Gels or frozen liquids needed to cool disability or medically related items used by persons with disabilities or medical conditions.

You are not limited in the amount or volume of these above items you may bring in your carry-on baggage. However, if these items are in containers larger than three ounces, please perform the following:

1. Separate these items from the liquids, gels, and aerosols in your quart-size and zip-top bag.

2. Declare you have the items to one of our Security Officers at the security checkpoint.

3. Present these items for additional inspection once reaching the X-ray. These items are subject to additional screening.

Yeah, I had to check out what liquids are available as well since we are flying to Ottawa for Christmas. The 3 oz personal care items aren't a problem, although a nuisance since we had to buy travel sized items rather than take the ones we already have. Yes, you can bring larger sized containers of OTC or prescription medication as long as it is separated out from your belongings and presented separately to the security personnel for additional screening. I was worried because I am an insulin dependent diabetic and there is no way I would check my insulin - it is a life and death situation for me if I am without it - and because it comes in pre-measured doses in an insulin pen I don't have options for changing the delivery size. I need to take one extra of each type I take just in case I run into problems because it would be next to impossible to get replacements outside of the country -especially during the holidays. By the same token, my medicine for low blood sugar is fruit juice - much faster, cheaper and more convenient than the glucose paste or tablets that they sell at pharmacies - so I am glad I can present my juice box with my medicines.

Now, this is our plan . . . what actually happens is yet to be seen.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I flew out of Manchester UK in October this year and they tried to confiscate a .06 ounce bottle of contact lens rewetting drops that were still sealed!!! I said they were medically necessary in case I had any problems with my contacts while flying, so the security guy checked with his supervisor, who in the end approved this dangerous liquid!! People had to forfeit any water bottles before going though security - then if you happened to buy a bottled water after you passed through security, those had to be forfeited before you could board the plane!! The world has gone mad!!! I understand the concerns, but its really getting out of hand!

Well, I am not sure of the conversion of oz to mls...so bear with me. I was allowed to take 100mls of lactulose (for my cat, honest!! He has a liver problem, long story) in my hand luggage. In fact I took two bottles of 100ml and the other was my sons allowance.

They were fine about it at the USA end, said 100mls is the limit per person. The REALLY scary thing was that I forgot to declare it at Gatwick (where they put it in a clear plastic bag) and they never noticed. I went through the scanner and they didn't pick up on it. Makes you wonder just what is getting through doesn't it?

So much for security.

My wife had her perfume confiscated when she arrived in the USA last week to visit. She even asked them, because it was her favorite perfume, if she could put the rest ON her rather than just have it taken. They said no......and she had to give it to them.

Gee, I wonder why they said no to her getting on an airplane soaked in perfume....
