I don't know what to do but I guess I need somebody to cheer me up a little. My NOA1 is from August and since 09 Sept they didn't touch my case anymore. It is getting so frustrating. Especially because everybody in my family is asking when I'm leaving and how much longer it will take until I get the visa... I have people waiting for my apartment (and of course I'm sad to give this one up as it is so so so perfect). My US family is planing a "real" wedding for us with all family and friends and party and everything. But the longer it takes to get NOA2 the more I'm thinking that I can't make it on time. What should I do? Still wait and be patient? I'm not that good at that...

I know I sometimes just wanted to choke people who would tell me to be patient, that it wouldn't be that long :P People are always asking my husband how much longer it will be, and it is super frustrating... but I guess we do know that in the end we will finally be together.

Unfortunately you don't have a choice about the waiting, unless someone wants to smuggle you into the country :) Has your US family set a date for the celebration, if so maybe that is adding to your stress? Maybe it would be better if there isn't a firm date until you get your NOA2 and can see the end in sight.

Sorry if I didn't cheer you up!

Sandy

Probably hung up in the name check, the service center has up to 6 months to process, and if you call them they will just give you the same info as what you see on line.

Name checks happen at any point in the game, there is no predicting when a visa interview will happen, and if the interview will be a success.

I know how you feel. My wife and I field the same question every day. Everyone keeps asking when is she coming? Like I know! Remember, even after the NOA2 there is the NVC process and that takes a while too. We have no choice but to wait.

But if you take a look into the Timeline thread, you will se that there are people who got their NOA2 even though they have a NOA1 date from late August, September and even October. So there isn't really a system in how they work on cases. My by first letter of last name of the petitioner or something similiar.

@all

Thanks to everyone

@riblet

Yes, the date is set. We set it to have the "real" wedding the same day as the first one. And we have to start planing anyhow since my family has to book their flights. Maybe I should start thinking about going there for the wedding and then coming back here and waiting for the interview etc. I still have my apartment to prove that I have to come back home, and bank account, insurances and so on.

The best way (I think) is a call to VSC. You will get full information about your case status.

But if you take a look into the Timeline thread, you will se that there are people who got their NOA2 even though they have a NOA1 date from late August, September and even October.
It can be DCF.

Yes name checks happen at all stages of the USCIS, NVC, Consulate, Adjustment of Status, it is a pain, and slows things down, you can thank a few mad-men who flew planes into buildings for the extra precaution, do not get up-set with the government, USCIS is part of Homeland Security.

Our NOA-1 from CSC came June 23, and in late-October we hadn't heard a thing. I was getting nowhere with the phone calls and it wasn't long enough to write a senator, so I simply MADE them touch my file. I sent another copy of my marriage certificate with a note stating I thought I had accidentally left it out of my original submission. I got a touch, then an approval within a week. May be a coincidence -- but maybe not! Creativity never hurts, IMO. Good luck. ;)
