This is my first post here and i want to thank everyone on this forums for already helping me a lot.

Me and my wife (shes the american citizen) will apply for CR1 visa, either this year or in January 2014.

My question is : since she doesnt have the right amount for the affidavit, her parents will be the sponsors. im confused what form they have to use

i864 and 864A or just 864. was anyone in a similar situation, with 2 sponsor, that can help me fill those forms? thanks.

Even if your wife has no income, as the petitioner she is primary sponsor and must fill in the I-864.

One of the parents then also files a I-864, and the other one a I-864A

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

One of the parents then also files a I-864, and the other one a I-864A

Wouldn't each parent file an I-864A and only the wife file an I-864? Correct me if I am wrong.

You are wrong, unless your wife and parents are part of the same financial household, ie one claims the other on taxes.

You are wrong, unless your wife and parents are part of the same financial household, ie one claims the other on taxes.

So in other words, if the petitioner is not claimed on the cosponsor's taxes, the cosponsor fills out an I-864 and not an I-864A?
