'It's like dating a model with my grandmother's values': Man 'sick' of Utah women finds love on Russian dating site

A man who was unable to find love in his Utah hometown and claimed he was 'sick' of local women has told how he found his future wife via a Russian dating website.

Nathan Adams, 45, an aircraft mechanic from Syracuse, met Elena Adamchiyk, 11 years his junior, on AnastasiaDate.com last year, and now the two are set to wed before Christmas.

He told The Salt Lake Tribune that his Ukrainian bride-to-be makes him feel like he's won the jackpot, adding: 'Dating Elena is like dating a model . . . who has the values of my grandmother.'

Divorced for several years from his six-year-old daughter’s mother - who has since passed away - Mr Adams said he met women who either didn’t want to help him with family responsibilities or were interested in his money.

'I told my friend I’d had enough. I wanted no more dating around here.'

In a bid to find a future partner he decided to buy a home computer and give online dating a go.

'Everything I wanted she fulfilled. If somebody had told me a year ago what my life would be like today, I wouldn’t believe them'

At first, he tried a website that connects Western men with Asian women, but was scammed by someone he believed was a model.

When he began hearing good things about Ukrainian women he signed up to AnastasiaDate.com, a Moscow-based matchmaking site founded in 1993 by a Russian-American couple.

Over 9,000 kilometers away, in the Ukrainian city of Odessa, was 34-year-old Ms Adamchiyk

She told The Salt Lake Tribune that she'd been married twice before to Russian men who were unfaithful, a behavior she says is common in the former Soviet Union.

Determined to settle down with someone not Russian, she decided to join AnastasiaDate.com, which has a high percentage of male users in the U.S.

Mr Adams chatted with several women in 2012 before Ms Adamchiyk’s profile and video caught his attention.

'Dating Elena is like dating a model . . . who has the values of my grandmother'

After talking online and exchanging letters, Mr Adams traveled to Odessa in September 2012 to meet Ms Adamchiyk and went back in May this year for several weeks.

The first time they met Mr Adams decided to propose and Ms Adamchiyk finally recieved her fiancee visa in August, allowing her to return to the U.S. this month.

Now based in Syracuse, Utah, she hopes to go to school to improve her English and wants to connect with the local Russian Orthodox Church to get a sense of community. Meanwhile her fiance is learning Russian with a view of retiring in Ukraine one day.

Mr Adams says he didn’t realize how much his daughter needed a mother figure until he saw her bond with Ms Adamchiyk.

She runs to her all the time, asking her questions. She wants her to give her a bath every night.'

The match, he says, is a dream come true.

'Everything I wanted and needed, she fulfilled . . . If somebody had told me a year ago what my life would be like today, I wouldn’t believe them.'

David Evans, an industry consultant who blogs at Online Dating Insider says that today, one in five romantic relationships begin online.

It’s not known what proportion of the fiancee visas the U.S. State Department issues are related to online dating.

But, Mr Evans says, 'There is a market out there for dudes that want foreign brides, for whatever reason.'

The U.S. State Department warns citizens that international dating is fertile ground for scam artists and people should never send money or disclose personal information to someone without verifying his or her identity.

11 years his junior...shudder.

If you're into mature women with facial hair I guess it's ok.

Aw hell, those pics aren't so great. I thought you Russian importers said they were all models. We have plenty of chicks like her here and I'm not in, why would i get it from across the world?

Between you and me, a lot of guys say they got a model.... but they never say what it was she was modeling.

So what is new here, seems like a non-story that has been repeated 1000 times before but maybe I am missing something???... Looking at the video she looks fine to me so not understanding the comments there either, needs to style the hair a bit differently. The person taking the photos certainly could have done a better job.

Oh, I think it's just a re-affirmation that Utah women are unsuitable, almost skanky.

My apologies to Utah Women, who-ever you are.

The comments there are incredulous, aye? ;)

Wait a minute, isn't that where all the Mormon chicks are at?

He could have saved a few bucks and went to BYU and scored, no need to even enroll just walk around with an Ipad and fake it.

Of course the Ukraine lady will be a notch or two better looking than "he" will get in Utah ... but hey, they all go down-hill in the end anyway right?

All the more reason to get that "age-offset" (or so they say)

If I remember right, at one point Utah (or at least the salt lake region) had the second highest rate of breast augmentation in the country so they are doing their part for gender beautification.

The comments on the Russian woman are not just bad, they are inaccurate...

The comments on the webpage are a tad more interesting.. People hoping she comes here then screws him over because he is victimizing someone with an "economic disadvantage." How dare he! Plop the ####### from him and put it on her and *magic* the other person is now the victim.

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

Percentage wise I beleive the highest per-capita for Mormons is in Rural Idaho... Used to be anyway.

He did not marry a Mormon so it is not important to him even if he claims it is.. Its a double bonus really.. Pretty lady with the values he wants (I'm thinking the values comments are for mom and dad and people reading the article) and he has free time on Sundays.. .And no giving of 10% of his gross income to spread the word.

I can't tell what type of "catch" he is from the photos or the article.. No prince charming but its not like he is a hobgoblin.

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect
