Just on my way back from interview

We got put in AP with no explanation and they gave my fiancé's passport back to him. I don't know what to do.

What is his nationality? Where was he born? Has he lived or worked in the middle east? Any of those factors can trigger AP and do not mean that you've been denied, just that they need to do a few more background checks. Once AP is up, they should request him to send in his passport.

He is Scottish, born in Scotland and has never been to the middle east. He does have a long visa history with several seasonal work visas and 2 denied student visas due to lack of ties. You would think that if there was an issue regarding his visa background it would have been spotted before we got to interview stage. There was no explanation and there is no timeline. I am afraid this is going to take months and all our plans will be screwed.

And AZ glad u getting sorted it states on the embassy website as long as it's a certified copy it's fine and many people on here say it's fine so you good :-)

Well update is

I now have in the palm of my hand one brand spanking new passport and one very original looking birth certificate! (I just hope they are happy with th ebirth cert its not the same yellowish my old original was and it says "Certified copy". Any ideas?

Also now i have a new passport does anyone know if i need to reapply for my ESTA like i would usually do with a new passport or will i not need an esta because i have a visa?

Okay just reread the previous posts and i have the same type of birth cert that Jola has so that should be fine

Glad you got your new passport and birth cert aready! You do not need to renew your ESTA as you will be getting the K1 visa to enter with.

Certified copy is what it says if it's not the original and is fine, thats what I had.

You wont need an esta as you will be entering as a K1.

Esta is for visa waiver and you have a visa, or will soon anyhow.

It's so trying, expensive, difficult and LONG and to hit a road block like you did at the very end has to be a gut ache but it's just a set back. Docs sent off and a visa will be in your hand soon! Thank you that is really lovely of you. It was definitely an unforeseen set back and I was so angry with myself. I now have a new passport and birth cert ready for DX to pick up today and then the waiting game begins. Not like im not used to waiting by now! Will keep everyone posted on any updates

Update on my situation: The medical center has requested that my fiance return to London for another medical. Won't tell us why, but we are hoping it's no big deal and his visa can be issued soon. I have never heard of anything like this happening, but keep your fingers crossed for us.

I can't imagine how nerve wracking this must be for u both. I hope they dont charge u for another medical. I have never heard of this before either. were u able to make another medical appointment quickly or have u not done it yet?

We are waiting on the medical center to call back with available times. Don't know if they will charge for another appointment or not, and it sucks that he now has to make a 3rd trip to London to get this taken care of.
