Most of ours are ones that have been collected over the years, some are ones that my students have made over the years as well. Anything our daughter makes is cherished. Joel and I are looking for that special ornament to commemorate our first Christmas as a married couple. Haven't found it yet though...sigh.

Extensive holiday decorations and the capitalization of these occasions is disgusting. Spend the holidays in the third world and you'll gain a new appreciation for what's important. Spent this past Christmas with my fiancee's family without electricity. It was embarrassing thinking of all the KwHrs being wasted on the other side of the world on Griswald-type Xmas light displays. Worse yet was the thought of all the money being wasted on Xmas gifts for ungreatful kids when 2/3 of the world's population is earning $1/day. It's sortof mind-boggling. <descends from soapbox>
