Hi.

Question: Have any of your significant others lived in the US previously under a work visa etc for at least 12 months? Mine did many years ago. I am curious if anyone had to also get a US Police Clearance?

not sure about your embassy/consulate but here is a cut and paste from our p4 letter. Hope it helps.

OBTAIN THE ORIGINAL POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE
Each visa applicant aged 16 years or older must submit a police certificate from every
country where he/she resided for at least 6 months after the age of 16.
Some countries require a specific Police Certificate Request form to properly request and
obtain Police Certificate(s). The Reciprocity by Country page indicates those countries.
Police certificates from certain countries are unavailable.
Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to obtain any U.S. police
certificates.
For more specific information please visit HTTP://TRAVEL.STATE.GOV/VISA/FEES/FEES_3272.HTML
So probably your best bet is to get a hold of you embassy/consulate and ask them what you need in case they a particular for what they are looking for.

I want to echo what PalmTrees said. When I started this thread, I thought if anyone was through the proces before Feb/ March it would be a miracle. If we had done things a little differently, Annie would already be here with me. I hope you all get through the process and are with your loved ones soon.

Cheers,

Jon

We filed with the belief that he probably wouldn't be here until the next September, at the least. And now he'll be here in March. It is overwhelming sometimes how fast it has moved. We've had to change so many of our plans! No complaints, of course. :)

Thanks so much! I see it says: Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to obtain any U.S. police certificates. We are checking even further to confirm. From what I hear the US is able to electronically check these days. I was worried I would have to go through the FBI which could take months.

I'm really excited that fellow September filers are moving through the process quickly! Visa Journey has really been a pillar to my patience, my hope and my support system as I continue through the process. I wanted to thank everyone for that!

Congrats to everyone who is finally done!!!!!! And for those of you who are still waiting, this is the last stretch!!

I do have a question for anyone who can answer :) Once your visa is approved and you receive it in the mail, is there is specific port of entry that you must travel through? Does the consulate tell you which one is mandatory or does that matter? Also, is there a specific amount of time you have to wait before traveling? My VISA appointment is on Feb 26th.... We are planning to move mid March... is this acceptable?

Thanks :)

You have 6 months from the medical to use a k-1 visa. And you can use any POE that you wish at the airports or land crossing at the borders up to you :)

There is just a date on the visa saying when you must have entered the USA by, but you can chose any day within that time frame. And any port of entry is fine as well! Good luck with your interview!
