You should have a gun by the bed, by the couch/computer, and of course, on your person. Plus a couple out in the vehicle too.

Many of you are saying you dont live in fear...but are too scared to live in urban environments. When you move to "the safe ndighborhoods" are you doing so because youre scared?

I've lived in urban environments when I was younger, I was never in fear when I lived there, no big whoop. Now I make good money and can afford to live in better places, again no big whoop. Why are you so paranoid?

Actually a hypocrite would not have given his own self a c, but I digress

Yes thanks for the little zinger...You just can not post without a little insult can you.

Anyway..Peace and love..it says more about you than me

You being easily insulted is not my issue. smile.png

Anyway. My husband lived in Chicago until a few years ago. And considering how many people here seem to be afraid of that city, it's amazing he got out alive. And without a gun.

His paranoia has spread to VJ too, he's become very prone to hitting the report button as of late. The very same report button he's claimed to never use because we should all be able o give and take.

Sure it will be so much safe now only if you can convince the criminal elements in the community.

Convince them of what? You are going around in circles. The fact is that the chance of you being able to use your firearm to prevent a criminal act is several times lower than chances of that same fire arm being used by a member of your own family to injure a member of your family. That doesn't mean that either scenario is likely to happen, it just means that one is more likely to occur than the other so if you truly want to lessen risks of being involved in a firearm incident you are better off without a gun in the home.

The 'what if' argument cannot trump statistics no matter how many times you attempt to make it so.

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

We all suffer from thin skin sometimes. VJ is a scary place, you know. Gotta come prepared.

R u taking lessons from Big Dog?

No stat out there that shows a house without gun is safer than a house with gun.

Hey if it make you happy and don't wanna own one go ahead.

How did Slim reach the conclusion that the people without the guns are the ones who are scared of living in an urban environment? I can't work out how he got that from what has been posted so far. What did I miss?

No statistics provided by the NRA to be sure, but you need to expand your reading list to include information from other sources. A scary idea I know, but you can do it.

What paranoia? Its weird to me that people feel they dont need a gun. Theyre so paranoid of being responsible for their own safety that they actually shun the means to do so.

And living somewhere safe may not be the same as keeping a gun by the door but youre doing so because its aiding in your safety. You might just be paranoid but instead of taking passive steps to defend against it (carrying a gun) youve actively fled what scares you.

Let me guess, you have all of this, yet I wager you don't live in an urban neighborhood. What are you afraid of?

I am perfectly happy to be responsible for my own safety. I don't need a firearm to do that, in fact I am better of without one. I live in an urban environment, it is perfectly safe to live here without owning a firearm. You are reading things that are not there again. True, I did move from Northern Ireland by way of the UK to southern California, but none of these moves were undertaken because I was scared living where I was before I moved. Where do you get this from Slim?

So people who don't own guns don't own them because they are paranoid of being responsible? Source?

And people who don't live in urban areas don't live there because they're afraid and fleeing? Source?
