Several posters on here have mentioned calling USCIS to check on the status of their I-130 application. It seems like there's a suggestion that doing so can lead to an application being processed faster (ie the squeaky wheel gets oiled).

Does the petitioner have to call USCIS, or can the beneficiary call?

What does one have to say to be transferred to tghe magic tier-2 representative?

Any other magic formulas that can be uttered?

Thank you!

as far as i know, only the petitioner (US Citizen) or his/her rep (i.e. lawyer) can call to f-up on the status of the application. My fiance tried to call but they wont give out any info to her and just told her to have the USC call them up for it.

as for what to say to be swiftly transferred to a tier 2, wait for the expert members of vj to chime in for that. Good luck!

You just ask to speak to a tier 2 supervisor. They may ask you why what is the issue than you hold (sometimes a long time).

Do you know where you petition is? Still at NBC or at your local USCIS office? If the later it would be better to make an INFOPASS appt since your petition is physically in your backyard and discuss what you need to discuss.

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

We filed from abroad and the NOA1 said it was sent to the NBC in Missouri (MSC file number) but I'm not sure if it would have been moved to the new service center in Kansas.

Thanks for the responses. I guess there isn't much of a point in calling until at least some other May filers have gotten their NOA2s....
