Guatemala Strange Mailing Address: Problem to receive packages?

My fiance lives in an "Aldea" outside of the city in Guatemala, and her mailing address doesn't have a house number or even a street address. We researched if there was any kind of PO box service that we could use but she didn't find any.

Does anybody have any kind of experience with mailing addresses in Guatemala or any solution we could use to avoid any delays?

I am not sure if this will help but I am having the same problem in Laos. Laos doesn't have home delivery of mail and there are few addresses.

I contacted the Lao embassy by email and was informed that all contact here in Laos will be done via telephone and that my partner will be called into the USA embassy to pick up the paperwork.

I suggest you email the consulate in Guate City to see how they are handling this.

That sounds like the best solution. I guess I'd have to wait my case is received at the embassy to let them know, right?

I went through this myself. My wife in Mongolia lived on the outskirts of the city, and there isn't any mail delivery there. The biggest issue was getting the documents sent to her from the U.S., but if you write the phone number on it, DHL calls them and figures out where to go.

The embassy didn't send anything by postal mail, and everything was done by phone, email, or in person. Sometimes they emailed me and I had to phone my wife and let her know what they wrote.

In the end, though, I've been married for just over a month now, and everything worked out for the best.

The consulates and embassies in countries with "mail" situations are intimately familiar with the challenges and know how to get around them, si man.

My fiancé is from Guatemala and has the same issue. Luckily I have friends who live in Guatemala City who do have a regular mailing address. They said this was fine.

I just came from Huehuetenango, Guatemala. They told me in the area that if some one sends any package or letter, a messenger will first come to the are and call to meet with the recipient. The messenger would verify the recipient's ID to give them a notice or ticket to go pick up the package or letter at their local post office.

So mo much to worry about getting the packages to my fiance in Guatemala.
