I recently contacted a real estate sales-rep for an apartment that I'm willing to rent after the visa is issued but the payment has to be upfront. I can't pay upfront if I am not sure about the outcome after the interview.
The sales-rep gave me the address of the agency office 1178 Broadway, Second Floor NY 10001 New York so I can provide it in the online application form, but once the visa is issued I'll book an apartment of theirs.
Is the address above acceptable, even if i haven't pre-booked anything?

because she's not sure it will be available

You would be asking for the address, not for the keys to the apartment.

Think about it this way: If you were to book a hotel room, you can know the address of the hotel, but that doesn't mean they will have availability to have you as a guest.

Makes sense? So, you would be providing the address of the place you, initially, intend to stay at. Once you get your visa and actually travel to the USA, at the time of entry, you will be required to provide the final information about that apartment/hotel/friends house/family or wherever you'll end up staying.
