They will end up with another extortion line set up as help desk for this crappy web site. It's not very intuitive that's for sure.

So am I right in saying that you can pick your passport up from different depots for free, or have it delivered to your home for a fee? Does anyone have a list of the depots? I don't have a case number yet so I can't look myself :P

So, I think they've always allowed collections but don't tell you that.

When I was paying for my courier the other week, the lady knew we had travel plans. She said if I called them after the passport was issued but before DX put it out for delivery that they'd let me collect my passport for an extra £20 (payable later if I did that). There's a DX building a few streets away from me in London, so I assume I would have got it there.

I never needed to in the end, because it went out for DX collection with ample time, but I assume this new collection system will be a more formalised version of that.

Ok... I feel like this is a really daft question, but I'm stumped. I just registered and am selecting the courier hub, but who do I put under "Care of"? Do I need to put anyone?

Only if you want it delivered to a person other than you, like maybe your Mum at her address. That's what care of usually means.

Anyone know at what point in the process you get to opt to have it delivered to home. I only followed it as far as the bit where you pay for the visa. I did not go further as I am not at that stage yet. The bits I saw were when you selected the depot, there isn't one within 50 miles of me so \i might as well pay the £20 and have it delivered. Much easier in the old days when you paid for a brought with you a pre paid Royal mail special delivery envelope.

How did you even get to paying for the visa? I can't work out which section of the site I need to be on. (Also not at the stage yet, but so confused by the new site.)

I'm gonna have to pay the £20 too, nearest depot to me is just over 60 miles... -.-

Once you set up an account go to your home page and in the top left is a box about selecting courier, go there select the depot you want, then continue which takes you to the payment page where it tells you it'll cost $240. Definately a step back, although I suppose the aim is to have less hassle at the embassy on the day. I would rather do that and deal with a person than some poxy website. be interesting to see how it works in practice.

Just to double check I'm even in the right section, is a K1 classed as Immigrant or Nonimmigrant on it?

I thought it would be Non, but that asks for DS 160 numbers and such.

But then the IVU handles it at London, so does that make it Immigrant? That section wants my appointment date, which of course I don't have yet.

I selected Non - and then it asked me for a DS 160 and in the drop down list had no mention of K visas, so I tried to register for the immigrant which DID have k visas but it said my email address was already registered to the non so i couldnt use it again (sigh). So i had to relog in to non and change my email address (to a random old email account) and only then would it let me reregister for immigrant. Then it asked me for my appointment date so i just closed the page.

Oh good its not just me! That's exactly what I did. :P

Will be satisfying when I can come back to it with an appointment date.
