Does my port of entry matter/need to be coming from my country?

So essentially my question is this, if I am a Canadian citizen, and have my paperwork from the consulate to officially enter the US, would there be any issues if my port of entry was at the Mexico/US border instead of the Canada/US border?

I doubt it. They may look at you strange however that you flew to mexico to drive to the USA. LOL

I have to move around a lot for my job and if I could enter from the Mexico side, where I will most likely be when everything goes through, then it saves me an annoying, expensive, and needless flight back to Canada just to cross the border from there. Also, what should I do if I am in the states when my paperwork comes through? Again, my job requires a lot of traveling to different places and I've had no trouble coming and going throughout the entire immigration process, do I have to go out of the country and re-enter to 'officially' enter, or is there somewhere I can go within the country like the airport or local office or something to 'officially' enter and get the stamp and such? Thanks so much for all the help, this immigration has been a logistical nightmare for me.

are you planning to be in Montreal for the interview, or somewhere else?

I have to go to Montreal for the interview, but depending on when that takes place I may have to head to either Mexico or the states immediately afterwards with no time to go back to Vancouver to wait a week or two for my papers to arrive, if I am in the states or Mexico and have my papers sent to me can I do my entry there, or do I have to fly back across the continent just to get the papers and enter from the Canada border just to fly back exactly where I came from? It just seems like an expensive and long trip just for a pack of papers and to cross a line from a specific side. They've said that I can enter from Mexico so now I'm just wondering if I'm going to need to take that flight back to Canada should I be in the states at the time when my papers arrive or can I just head to a local government office and get things processed there, because it seems incredibly inconvenient to have to go to the nearest border just to exit and then re-enter. Also seems like something that may make the border raise their eyebrows at me.

I think you have a bigger issue - apologies for missing it the first time.

Once you have yer interview - yer passport is retained by the IV Unit in Montreal. It is returned inside of the visa packet that you'll receive from Loomis/DHL.

So, are you able to travel into Mexico without the passport?

I have a Nexus card to allow for expedited crossing of the border, but I do not believe that functions as a passport, ugh, #######, I didn't realize/forgot about that, craaap.

You should pick the Dorval site for pick up for your package. People have been getting them next day or a few after, then you can pick it up from Montreal so you can fly. My passport and package was in my hands next day in Alberta. It no longer takes weeks to get it.
