Hello, read this guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Yes, normally the petitioner (you) is also the financial sponsor, but in cases where they don't make enough money, they can have a joint sponsor to help. This is usually a family member of the petitioner. The financial sponsor needs to make above the poverty line for themselves plus their dependants and the person they are sponsoring.

If your fiance does not have a financial sponsor (unless he's got a large pile of savings/assets to self-sponsor), then no visa. Correct.

Your NOA2 is not approved or not based on finance. That comes at the K1 visa application stage.

You need to thoroughly read the first link I posted.

You should know who your joint sponsor is going to be by the time you get your NOA2, unless you want to cause delays after that. You didn't need it before you applied.

You and your joint sponsor both need to complete i-134 forms.

The petitoner do not need to prove their financials at the USCIS stage.

It is required in the second step, which is the interview at an US consulate in your fiance(e)'s home country.

So while you await for the NOA2 from California/Vermont/Texas Service Center, you can find a job or a co-sponsor.

The time frame for filing petition to getting approved (NOA2) is about 3.5 to 6 month normally at California Center.

Please read the guides from this site. It will help you a lot.

Good luck!

You need to make above poverty line like other members had said. If you dont make anough money they're gonna ask you for a sponsor, this means that somebody will cover for any expense that may arrise. Basically the goverment dont want you to become a burden and start asking for help, such as welfare and stuff like that. So yes is a requirement to make enough money to support your future spouse other wise no visa should be issued, unless you find a sponsor that could be anybody that makes enough money. But make sure how much is the poverty line becuase yoy may think you dont make enough and you do. Good luck!

I guess it is tru, love is blind. If you don't make enough money to support yourself and your fiance what are you doing? I don't mean to sound mean but since your fiance will most likely not be allowed to work how will you support him/her? And once your fiance is here how will you eat, pay rent, etc??? I know this sounds impossible but perhaps you should hold off on the process until you are sure you can make enough money to surive together. Again, I don't mean any harm but are you really thinking this through? I know if someone told me this I would be kind of upset because I love my spouse so much and I could not bare another minute without her but... Anyway I wish you luck, I will pray for you both. I know you will make it work if you so desire. God Bless. Aloha Ke Akua
