Hi everybody!

So finally I was able to take the time to do the medical. We went to Dortmund this morning first thing and everything seems to be perfectly fine. They told us they will send the results to the embassy by the end of the week.

But I have one question for you guys: I had read carefully the instructions for medical and said they don't test for HIV anymore. However, today they even made me sign a form before the exam started saying that they would perform a blood test for HIV. Does that happen also in other cities in Germany?

Other than that, how's everybody else doing with their applications?

No news over here. Still waiting on a response. Though I did have a dream last night that it was approved and we got everything in the mail. haha

Hahaha! I've been dreaming about all this process as well LOL! Today we called to the doctor's office and they said they had just sent the results of the medical to Frankfurt, so I hope we can get the interview letter sometime in the next 2 weeks

If your case takes as much as mine, then you'll be receiving your NOA2 very soon!

I have a friend who received the NOA2 at 60 days after filing. Today is 58 days. Fingers are crossed we get some news soon, as we would loooove to go back to California earlier than we are planning (November).

It only asks for the DS 230 Part 1&2, copy of my husband's passport, and a copy of this letter. NO other paperwork, as opposed to what all the guidelines say.

I guess they've changed that part a bit?

Okay, never mind. I should send this ASAP and the other paperwork should be in a separate envelope, right?

I should read more before I post here. haha. I'm just too excited, I suppose. I also got my wisdom teeth pulled today, so that may be messing with my head.

Veronica, congratulations!!! So I think that the average time from the moment you file the I-130 to the reception of the NOA2 is 60 days about. I think from here on everything will go super fast

First, send out the letter you received with a copy of your husband's passport and the form DS 230 Part 1&2 asap! If you can today. Keep a scanned copy of the letter before putting it on the mail, you might need it later, specially for the Case Number. From now on you can see how everything moves here: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?

Now, go here http://germany.usembassy.gov/visa/iv/apply/ and complete steps 3 to 7. Your husband can schedule his medical on Monday morning. If he's gonna take it in Frankfurt, he can even go Monday first thing, because they don't even need an appointment to be made in advance. I took mine in Dortmund and they were really nice and super fast. I took it on Monday this week and the CEAC website was already updated with my results by Thursday (woohoo!).

For some reason, I thought the DS230 and all the other things that I will be sending in soon were supposed to be sent in together, that's why I originally posted. haha. Oh well, I figured it out.

I will be sending it to the consulate today. I am just now laying my son down for a nap, but when he wakes up, we will be walking to the post office.

@atenea26 - Thanks for the CEAC link. I was planning on looking for it today.

And Frankfurt is about a 5 hour drive one-way from Dresden, so we are not going to be going there. My husband still needs to get a NORMAL check up at our general practitioner, which he thinks he will be able to do FRIDAY. Ugh. I told him the sooner the better. But work calls! So I guess we will be making an appointment in Berlin (which is a 2 hour drive) for sometime the following week.

You guys often discussed early in the thread about keeping in contact via email. When and how in the process do you get a contact person and email address? With the NOA1?

Hi Wortu,

In my case, our doubts were figured out on the early stages of the process via this address: USCIS.Frankfurt@uscis.dhs.gov.

After you get your NOA2, you're dealing with the Visa Section now. In that case you need to send them a text to frankfurtIV@state.gov and frankfurtvisainquiries@state.gov.

Hey atenea26,

When I'm looking at your timeline (in your signature), it says you received your NOA2 & packet 3 at the same time. We received the NOA2 which asked for the DS 230 on July 12, but nothing more. And it did not ask for us to send "packet 3" with it.

Did you receive another letter asking for the rest of the documents? Am I missing something? I thought we were waiting for them to send us packet 3 still.

Hi Veronica!

The NOA2 is the Packet 3. According to it you do need to send more than just the DS-230. You also need to send another stack of paper and get your husband's medical.

I'm actually seeing right now the picture you sent and below the signature it asks you to go to the germany.usembassy.gov website, click under Immigrant Visas - How to Apply and follow steps 3 to 7. The documents speficied in the checklist of Step 4 are what you need to send back ASAP, besides the DS-230. That's the packet 3.

You won't receive any other notifications from the Consulate until you complete all this info and send it to them.

Aha. So I did misunderstand that. That's okay though, because I'm still waiting on the I-864A from my mother in the mail! She had done the 864 at first, and then I realized that she needed to do the 864A. UGH. That should be here any day in the mail, and then the packet is complete and can be sent.

My husband's medical, on the other hand, cannot even be done yet because he has to get his shots from his general practitioner first. He went to the doctor Friday morning and they had to ORDER the damn shots!
