We hoped that it takes 60 days to approve the petition too. Unfortunately when we contacted their office last week(we also filed in person on October 28th ) the answer was that our case is still being processed(((

Maybe it is taking them so long because of long Christmas vacations. Hopefully we all get our visas soon.

wow, that's quite long waiting for DCF. Looking like you should hear something from them at least at the end of Jan.

Keep us updated when you receive your i-130 approval. I wish you the best of luck!!!

We contacted them just once, a month after the petition was filed. I think you should not bother them before you have 90 days. You have just another two weeks to wait. Not much left. Believe me I know how it is very difficult to be apart and wait.

Yes, I got an envelope in the mail on Wednesday morning, saying that my documents were in Frankfurt and the petition was approved on January 13.

Right after I wrote an e-mail to the Embassy Unit asking about my case number and today in the afternoon I got they replied. So I was very happy today and yesterday :)dancin5hr.gif

Do people take their wedding CD/DVD to the interview at Frankfurt? Do they allow it inside?

Maybe it is allowed but when are they going to watch it?

I thought you bring the evidence of relationship for the interview,

show the officer and then take back home with you.

But maybe I am wrong.

Yesterday I received the letter with my approved I-130 petition (approval date was January 27). I was quite surprised it went so fast. In the letter it says we now have to follow steps 3-7. We don't have an exact travel date yet (we were thinking August 2014). Does anyone know if we have to fill in an exact date where it says "proposed travel date"? Or can we say something like "to be determined"?

Also, after we send in this next package, will we then hear back from them regarding when to do the medical?

Congrats maeve808! It is really fast!

As for the the proposed date question, my opinion is that it is better to put August or July 2014

because the Embassy should schedule the interview closer to that date.

I would not do the medial now though, because your visa might expire before you move to America,

since the new rule is that immigrant visa is valid as long as medical examination is fresh- only 6 months.

There is also information in the letter with a case number from the Consulate, "if you do not intend to immigrate to the USA within the next 6 months, due to the limited validity of an immigrant visa, we suggest that you communicate with this office again prior to your intended date of departure"

Thanks MissKate for your reply. Yes, I read this with the 6 months in the letter. I was thinking I would prefer to have the interview the latest in March just to have it over with. Is it possible to put a proposed travel date of April/May 2014 and then travel in July or August? After all, plans can change. So in other words, we would still enter the U.S. within 6 months, but have the interview done already a little earlier.

I was just wondering,

do they look at the evidence of the relationship which people bring with them, like photos, CDs etc.

and give it back at the end of the interview or they keep it?

I had plans on providing a couple of original documents from my previous stays in America,

and just to show them to the Consular and take them back home.
