After recently posting a question about a gray area situation during the CR-1 I starting noticing people's timelines.

While talking to the visa office's information line, and a free consult with an immigration law firm; we were told a CR-1 for my spouse from Australia would take about 3-8 months from fedex to passport stamp.

So why is almost every timeline I see in people's signatures a year or more from start to finish? I think the biggest part of this process that has become a source of constant frustration for my fiance, now spouse, and I has been the difference in information given to us by lawyers, the gov hotlines, and people's individual experiences.

Has anyone that checks these forums had a cut and dry quick turnaround on a spouse visa?

Mine was only 8 months from end to end. No RFE. No checklists. Only my husband getting his tax transcripts to me sooner might have saved me a few days. I moved when I did because I wanted to allow time for the visa package to come back to me, but it did so the next day. But I still needed time to close up a few things and pack up.

But there are people who have gone quicker than I have. Look up MsHogan. It depends largely on how long it takes the petition to be approved.

signatures are one thing.

Timeline section is something else.

IMO - study the timeline section and NOT the signature section .

Don't see timelines section, you say? Come back on a PC, revisit.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Because government timelines are based on average. What you are seeing here are real time data.

Many times like petitions are done not in order receive bit they may be processing last months while people who filed in June are still waiting. It balances out their averages so they can still say "you are under normal processing times"

lawyers nor immigrations services know the real deal. Like lately at NVC the nightmare of the I-864 (new form). People getting approved at USCIS in 40 to 60 days great right. Now its taking almost another 2 to 3 months to just get their petition to NVC for further processing. can you imagine.

So buckle up for 8 to 12 months that is realistic.
