CR-1 interview in GZ approved, yay!

My wife's interview for her CR-1 was Tuesday morning in Guangzhou. We got there at 7am, waited outside in a line for about half hour, then she got the ticket for her interview. I went with her as far as possible, and when I had to go I left her with our huge stack of documents. She came out about 11:30am and was apparently one of the last to go. Her interview was very short, less than 5 minutes, and the questions she got were:

Can you speak English? Can your husband speak Chinese?

Where did you meet?

Why don't you have a joint sponsor? Do you have bank statements? Employer letter?

What food does your husband like you to cook?

Do you understand the packet about domestic violence?

They never asked to see anything like photos, my passport, her prior visa applications and extension notices, anything documenting our relationship. For our case they seemed to focus mostly on the I-864 stuff, since I recently finished school and went from student salary to regular salary since January. This made sense and we expected it, but we were also surprised they didn't focus much on any of the other aspects. She also felt a little weird carrying so many documents -- most other people just had one folder, whereas we had stacks of folders and letters and books and photo albums about a foot high. But I guess better safe than sorry.

We had never been to Guangzhou before and the next day enjoyed a day at the safari park and a night-time cruise on the pearl river. I'm not a zoo expert, but the safari park / zoo seemed pretty impressive. Even got to pet a lemur and a koala.

Congratulations! My husband also went to his interview loaded with photos and docs that they never looked at... we felt the same - better safe than sorry!

August 2008 - met when we were both living in England

February 2009 - began dating

May 28, 2011 - got engaged

August 5, 2011 - got married (in England)

September 29, 2011 - moved to Mexico

VISA PROCESS:

December 3, 2012 - sent I-130 to Mexico City (DCF)

December 6, 2012 - I-130 approved

December 14, 2012 - NVC case number assigned and instruction letter sent from Juarez Consulate but we NEVER received it

March 4, 2013 - called to check about our case and received our NVC case number and Invoice number

March 9, 2013 - submitted DS-260 online

April 17, 2013 - interview date - visa approved!!!

July 11, 2013 - POE: entered US through Dallas, TX

July 22, 2013 - Social Security Card delivered

August 22, 2013 - Green Card delivered

One weird thing is that when I go to check the status on the "ceac.state.gov" website, the status shows as "administrative processing" (interview was june 11). Naturally this is freaking me out -- during the interview we didn't get any request for any other documents and we got the piece of paper saying it's approved. Did anyone else notice the status on this website be something similar a couple days after the interview? Or did you see the status say "issued" right away?

eh - could always call DoS Hotline when they are open (# in my profile)

and ask for casefile status, asking specifically if the case is in administrative review or administrative processing.

They won't tell you why, but they won't tell you at all if'n you don't ask.
