Childrens Birth Certs for K1 interview if they are NOT moving with me

Hi, I am getting together the required documents in preparation for my Consular Interview (being hopeful as not yet received NOA2) and one of the requirements listed is birth certificates of all children.

My children will not be moving with me, although I did list them on the I-129F as it was a required question to list children.

Do I therefore need to take birth certs with me to the interview? I do not have access to them as my ex husband has them, although if they are needed I can order copies.

Many thanks

If the children are not traveling with you then NO you do not need their birth certificates, complete everything requested by the embassy for you

only.

Its required to list children on the I-129F ONLY if they will be applying for a visa also.

Are the children applying at a later day? They have a year from your approval date to process the K2 visa.

Thanks for the reply Hank. I listed the children on my I-129F as it seemed to be a requisite whether they were planning to travel or not. Same with the DS forms, although they at least do ask whether they will be traveling or intend to follow, which I could mark as no in both cases. It just isn't very clear as then it states that all birth certificates for children listed should be attached (or in this case taken to London interview) - doesn't say IF travelling now or later date!

If it states to list all your children, then you list them ALL. You are not supposed to list only children that would be coming with you on the I-129F, you list them all, as it asks.

The DS forms you fill out for the actual K-1 visa is where you state who is accompanying you, and you supply the extra forms needed for any K-2 at that time. You should not need the birth certificates of any children that are not applying for a K-2 to go with you.

No, only those that will be requesting a visa need a BC.
