Hi guys, how old the police report has to be? Would it raise a red flag if the police report obtained before packet 3 received? Does it matter if is already 2 months old by the time of the interview? Any input would be appreciated.

I got mine as soon as I could as close to sending my ds-230 off, but I think it has to be valid within a 6 month period when they request it unless things have changed?

If you know you are getting ready for it I would order it, UK police were slow and can take 4 to 6 weeks, but if there is a 2 month difference, wont make any red flags, they will see you have been reading ahead to see what you need! Thats my guess!

My embassy (Peru) advised not to get the police reports until packet 3 has been received. That being said it doesn't take more than a day to get the reports there. I would call your embassy before going to get them to ask if it would be a problem.

I am not sure what are the requirements for a K1 visa but I applied for my police certificate of character in January close to the end about a week after NOA2. It takes two weeks before you can get it (it's not mailed so you or someone can pick it up for you as long as you have the receipt). I mailed it to my husband in February and it was posted to NVC in March and my Interview was in May. I don't know if that helps any.

My Husband's naturalization timeline:
08/25/10: My Husband finally posts his naturalization application
09/01/10: Text message & e-mail notification acknowledging receipt of application. Forwarded to NBC
09/04/10: I-797 Received in the mail. Priority Date: August 30th 2010
02/02/11: Naturalization Interview (Postponed due to weather and probably backlogged)

I think you should get another one. Play it safe and avoid being placed in admin review after the interview. Important part here is that both of you attend the interview, while not mandatory I think it's a great benefit.

Be prepared to give any additional evidence at your interview.

Police certificates are time-sensitive. Our lawyer advised us not to get one until we get the NOA2. We got it on May 9. My certificate is dated May 29, pretty close to our interview date on June 11.

I hope this info helps.

Is one needed in the Philippines? I thought all that was needed was the NBI, or maybe that is what you are referring to?

I'm referring to the NBI clearance. smile.png

Ah thanks.

And yeah, that is good advice. Probably should wait for the CENOMAR until the NOA2 too, since processing time only takes a week anyways. The only thing we have gotten early is the Taiwan Police Clearance (she worked for a year in Taiwan), because the processing for that takes 2 months. But I don't think that will be an issue because she hasn't returned to Taiwan after the certificate date.

You're welcome. CENOMAR is time-sensitive too, so yes, better wait for the NOA2 also. I think you should be fine with the Taiwan Police Clearance. God bless you and your fiancee on your visa journey! smile.png

Thanks, you too. Good luck with the interview. :)
