Yes. The examination is to protect US people from disease. It is done for the public health of the US. Every immigrant gets one.

Are children under the age of 16 required to have a medical exam too? This is for the Moscow embassy if that makes any difference.

Yes, everyone gets an medical exam.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!
